Divisional Play in Full Swing
The road to a conference title kicks into high gear as several divisional matches are on the horizon. This weekend, Grambling State travels to Southern, Alcorn State goes to Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff goes to Southern on Sunday
National Rankings
• UAPB’s Jade West and Nicole Parks-Powell are ranked in the top ten in the nation in points and goals per game. West is fifth in points per game (2.6) while Powell is eighth averaging 2.4 points per outing. Powell and West are tied for eighth in the nation averaging one goal per contest.
• Alabama State’s Chelsea Nash (12.83 spg) and Grambling State’s Cherie Silas (10.38 spg) lead a group of five SWAC goalkeepers who are in the top ten in saves per game. Nash leads the nation while Silas is second; Jackson State’s Allison Lane (8.5 spg) is eighth while Alcorn State’s Elaine Opusunju and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Bre-Ann Laypolle are tied for ninth averaging 8.33 saves per outing.
