JACKSON, Miss.- Brian Ezeh scored a game high 21 points and the Prairie View A&M Panthers (3-13, 1-3 SWAC) put a total of four players in double figures as PVAMU came away with their first conference victory of the season defeating the JSU Tigers (5-13, 3-2 SWAC).

PVAMU’s offensive unit took control of the game at the 6:17 mark of the second half as they opened up a double digit advantage at 66-55 sparked by a Derek Johnson three pointer.

Prairie View A&M went on a 9-3 run taking its largest lead of the game at seventeen points at 75-58 with 5:04 remaining in the contest after a successful Dorian McDaniel three point field goal.

Jackson State attempted to mount a comeback cutting the Panthers lead to 13 points with 3:25 left in the contest, but the Prairie View A&M Panthers upped their lead back to 17 points with 1:18 remaining putting the game out of reach for the Tigers.

For the game the Panthers out rebounded the Tigers 39 to 34 en route to shooting an impressive 52 percent from the field.

The Tigers went a woeful 8-of-26 from the field in the second half of play. Prairie View A&M allowed Jackson State to shoot just 31 percent from the field for the game and forced the Tigers into committing 21 turnovers which turned into 27 Panther points.

Aaron Smith, McDaniel and Johnson rounded out the list of Prairie View A&M double-digit scorers chipping in 15, 11, and 10 points respectively.

The win was one of significant importance for the Panthers as it marked the first time Prairie View A&M had defeated Jackson State in Jackson since 1989. It also marked the Panthers first road win of the season.

PVAMU will try to capture their second consecutive victory on Monday, January 20th as they take on the Grambling State Tigers in Grambling, La. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the GSU Assembly Center.
