The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers will open play Thursday in Gainesville, Florida , as they take on Oklahoma in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
The Lady Rattlers are making their seventh straight trip to the NCAA Volleyball Championship and their ninth appearance in the last ten years.
Florida A&M will join host school No. 13 Florida (27-2), the College of Charleston (26-7) and Oklahoma (21-9) in the Gainesville regional at the Stephen O’Connell Center.
Oklahoma is making its second consecutive appearance after advancing to the Sweet 16 last season. The Sooners finished fourth in the Big 12 Conference this season. This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
In the same regional, Florida will face the College of Charleston on Thursday. The winners of both matches will meet on Friday at 6 p.m. for a bid to the Sweet 16.
Overall, 64 teams were invited to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, with the University of Florida one of the Top 16 national seeds.
This will mark the fourth straight year that Florida A&M and Florida have contested in the same sub regional in NCAA play, and the third consecutive year that Florida A&M will appear in Gainesville. It is also their fourth NCAA appearance in Gainesville overall since 2001.
