The Southwestern Athletic Conference will host its 2007 Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.
Prairie View A&M University’s men team will look to defend its title this year. The Panthers finished in first place in 2006. PVAM’s Alonzo Thomas, Matthew Jones, and Ashton Brown took second, third and fourth places respectively. Kerone Fairweather of Grambling State took first place.
The Lady Hornets of Alabama State University took top prize for the women. Alabama State finished first. Jewel Wells finished first overall, while her teammates Crystal Reese and Ashley Hawkins finished second and third respectively.
The women’s championship begins 9:00 a.m., while the men’s championship begins at 10:15 a.m. at Choctaw Trails.
