Michael Dyer dismissed from Arkansas State

Posted by Ben Kercheval on July 29, 2012, 8:31 PM EDT

Auburn transfer Michael Dyer hadn’t even stepped on the field for Arkansas State yet before he began making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Turns out, Dyer won’t play for the Red Wolves anyway. Ever.

In somewhat surprising news, Arkansas coach Gus Malzahn announced Sunday night that Dyer had been dismissed from the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

“I am truly disappointed that it didn’t work out here at ASU for Mike,â€￾ said Malzahn in the statement. “I wish Mike nothing but the best in the future.â€￾

Though Dyer had only transferred to Arkansas State this year, he was already the subject of more transfer rumors after his appeal for immediate eligibility was denied by the NCAA. It was thought briefly that Dyer may transfer to a lower level program so he could play right away before likely taking off for the NFL, but that speculation ended up being quashed.

If he transfers to I-AA..it's out of UA-Pine Bluff and Central Arkansas. Either way, he'd be a lot closer to his hometown of Little Rock. Question is, which one would he go to if he wants to stay in-state.

Im sure both of those coaches will put the best foot forward... Monte Coleman needs to save his job and this woould help

Michael Dyer kicked off Ark State team...SMH

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) -- Former Auburn running back Michael Dyer has been dismissed from the Arkansas State squad for violating team rules.
Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn announced the decision Saturday, saying: "I am truly disappointed that it didn't work out here at ASU for Mike. I wish Mike nothing but the best in the future."

Dwyer is from Atlanta went to Kell HS Trying to think where his lil brother is going to school. Im sure any SWAC school could bring him in.

You sure . My two neices and nephew graduated from Kell. MY neice dated Johnathan Dwyer.

I was wrong he was from Little Rock he came to see the Jonathan at some games so I assumed he went to Kell also Yeah Johnathan was going to come over to JSU for baseball

Knowing these young colored guys here in central ark, he probably has been blowing up UCA's phone begging for a spot. If he's a known trouble maker, they may give him the run around or outright reject him since he has issues. Who knows at that point he may feel as though he has hit rock bottom and think, what the hell, I'll just call a black school now, they specialize in guys like me!!:sick::angry::tdown:

So he left Auburn, then left Arkansas State? That should raise a few red flags about him. I guess it depends on what rules he violated.

looks like a mess of a situation. might as well go DII or DIII if he wants to play so bad. but dude needs to deal with them demons.

According to the news broadcast today, last march he was stopped in White county for speeding by a state policeman. A gun and weed was found in the car. Apparently, the trooper appeared reluctant to turn him in due to possible ncaa violations. He mentioned contacting ASU and malazahn about the stop. Dyer was fined over a $100 dollars for the speeding ticket, required to go to driving school and complete community sevice. The policeman is under investigation for the way he handled the situation which was recorded on the car's video cam. ASU athletic director nor malazahn would not comment about the situation during the sports cast.

A cover-up by a coach and an AD, I wonder if any disciplinary action will be taken against them by the school or the NCAA...

I was told tonight at the ASU Coaching caravan final stop that Dyer would choose between JSU and UAPB. Supposedly, Comegy is working hard to bring the troubled but outstanding running back to Jackson. And he would be eligible to play at an FCS school this season.

Go SWAC

Jones ought to go after him. Considering we play Auburn and against Crowell this year...

:read:

talking about an incredible amount of words some folks would have to eat

It's all business MH.... Whether or not this rumor is true, when I saw this story, I said I bet Comegy gives a call. I can honestly say that we don't need him though. Would possibly be a good pick up though.

pops,
save that "blowback" stuff (playing the victim role) You and I both know that your folks would have still posted the same regardless of old posts from year(s) ago. It is what it is.
