Why the optimism about JSU Football?

umm ok
:scared:

So MH, is this the guy that's going to do the rebuilding?

Ron Dickerson Sr., longtime intercollegiate athletics advocate and football coach, has been named interim director of athletics at Alabama State University.

"Ron's expertise, reputation and integrity made him an easy choice for us as we manage our transition to new leadership in athletics," said ASU President Joe A. Lee. "Ron has played a major role at some of the most successful programs in America, and we're excited by the opportunity to benefit from his broad experience."

This is mainly for GR, but any Blue Bengal is welcome to answer. You asked about why us Jags see a chance for success in 2006. Why do you see that for Jackson State? I mean, I see more challenges for the Tigers than for almost any team in the SWAC. You are basically in Southern's position in 1993 except for one thing..... the talent. We both got winning coaches from Division II with great supporting staffs.

However, this man thought so less of what JSU had that he brought in over 55 new players to encourage competition. That's not a bad thing, but that could lead to a tense training camp that is going to see players compete for a spot on the team, not on the field. Most of the SWAC is starting with a foundation, but JSU could not possibly get that in just training camp. I could see this optimism going into next year with Comegy, but his first year in DI-AA, we will see.

Convince me that the rest of the SWAC should take notice and not just that "We are JSU" stuff because you were JSU the last three years too.

Do you need anymore convincing?
