All I can say is I hope GSU didn't GIVE this fool a degree. As much as we do the right thang as HBCU alums in protecting our little sister in North Louisiana with our legistators and lawyers, I really hope they are educating the students going there better than this. In fact, I know they are because I hang with too many that know the deal. I don't what happen to this dude. Perhaps, he majored in Grassology and minored in Crackology while matriculating at GSU-Geaux Southern Universtiy.

We can name many more Southernites coupled with feats than the aforementioned. I will repeat, "we dont question Gramblings athletic "prowess." They have produced great athletes too. What we are addressing is this STUPIDITY that S.U. has "no tradition." What you posted is only the tip of the iceberg. I will not utilize the same ignorance as the Gramblingnite in this thread and say they have no tradition. I know better, you know better and the world knows betters. Really, this misinformed idiot dont deserve the responses that have already been given.

I try to do something different here like getting back on topic Pete was offered the ULL job before Jerry Baldwin but they couldn't pay him the cash he wanted he also turned down the Kent ST job about 6 years ago. Outside off the top 61 or so most 1a don't pay as well as SU with all bonuses Pete made about 196K this year his coordinators made about 88k.

And I put the asterisk next to Issac Higgins name to give this fool a clue, other than the running back that Tampa had on the offensive side of the ball it was he and doug that carried them to all their division titles. :shame:

I think it is generally lack of name recognition. Doug Williams has much more name recognition than Pete Richardson. Because he has a proven record at SU doesn't mean much beyond HBCU circles. Many HBCU coaches have proven records and they don't get looks from div I-A either. Doug Williams is getting looks because of his obvious NFL career and association with Grambling/Eddie Robinson, oh and by the way, he has resurrected a Grambling program that had, admittedly, fallen off for a few years.

Issac Higgins (or was it Hagans) had some early success at Tampa Bay but I don't think he was a factor when Tampa won the Division Title while Doug was qb. In fact, I don't think he was still on the roster. I could be wrong...that was some time back.

I knew that Hagans was with the Bucs when Doug arrived on the scene. I recall during the days that Doug was being criticized for throwing too hard, Hagans had no problem holding on to the ball. In the early Tampa Bay years, Doug was hampered by John McKay's run oriented offense. It was Ricky Bell/Jerry Eckwood left, Ricky Bell/Jerry Eckwood right ...swing pass to Bell/Eckwood with an occassional deep low percentage bomb.

I believe Jimmie Giles (TE) played at Alcorn!

We're both half right its Isaac Hagins and he was there before doug. I think he played until 81'.

The League at one time had a bulls eye on the SWAC. I remember we use to be able to tell who was going to the NFL and would play. Now, in the SWAC the numbers are just not there. I could hear Howard Cosell now naming our colleges after a SWAC alum made a big play. I can see like yesterday Brent Musberger on the NFL today showing SWAC footage of prospects . I remember looking at the games with a different type of interest because our athletes were thrillers. Things have surely changed. I am not saying it is bad but surely different. We need to figure out a way to get more world class players. I was proud of the show that Southern & Grambling put on in the SUperdome this year. When S.U. broke out in those throw back jerseys, I was really pumped. It just reminded me of the good old days (kind of like that half time show for homecoming). O.K. I simply can't believe ignorance is that great. But, I'm glad you all have taken the time to drop a little knowledge, just in case I'm wrong.

I guess this is a modern day example of Black not being able to seperate SMACK, School Rivalry, etc.. from reality, HBCU unity and Black Power.
