who's gonna win the Heisman?

I am taking Bridgewater as my favorite with Clowney right behind him.

Bridgewater should have a great year, but I really think he'll get dinged for Louisville's lack or perceived lack of competition. They could very easily not see a ranked team all season.

He may throw more than other Alabama QBs. But he will not have the opportunity to put up 35 TD numbers like a Tebow did or a Cam Newton. Plus he can't run either. So he will not have an edge on them Dual Threat Qbs. He has too many weapons on offense for him to just shine over these QBs that will be slinging it all over the place and also running the ball too. I like McCarron. But unless everyone else have a really down year passing the ball. His numbers will not be good enough even with those good WRs to deal with what Bridgewater, Miller or Mariota at Oregon will do. Those guys will throw it more and they will have lesser defenses to contend with to put up the monster numbers and style points.

And may I add those were just passing TDs. Tebow had 20+ rushing TDs during his Heisman season too.

Clowney is getting the early buzz and is the "preseason" favorite. However, everyone know that Johnny "Football" came out of the abyss to claim the honor. Hence, we will see how this plays out as the season progresses. The Heisman can be captured in big games. Don't sleep on sleepers that can come out of Georgia, Florida and LSU. If the stars are aligned correctly with the caliber of schedules these programs have, someone that stands out dramatically will not be denied....Let's be honest, who actually knew who was Johnny Football at the beginning of last season? Perhaps a few from folks from Texas.......

I would be very surprised myself if anyone from Florida makes the cut. lol

I am not sold on Driskel at all.

My Top 5:

1. AJ McCarron (Alabama)

2. Aaron Murray ( Georgia)

3. Carlos Hyde (Ohio State)

4. Stephen Morris ( Miami FL)

5. Jordan Lynch (Northern Illinois)

Did you all see anyone from Texas A&M last year at this time? That's why I used the word sleepers.....

Manziel was an unknown redshirt freshman on a team that caught the SEC by surprise. The likelihood of that ever happening again in our lifetime is very slim.

If most Heisman winners are QBs and RBs ... well ... we've seen what Florida and LSU have to offer. No surprises there and no contenders. LSU and Florida might have two of the worst QBs in the SEC. I'm sure the RBs will be good, but Heisman good? Don't know about that.

Maybe a DB could step up and have a great year like the Honey Badger did.

I don't know, Cam New came from Jupiter  :emlaugh: and won the Heisman. It's like that son of a gun just landed in Auburn to save the planet. :emlaugh: .......No one if they care to be honest saw that one coming....When I saw that guy scamper away from Patrick Peterson, the only thing I could say is look at that gazelle run! :emlaugh:

By the way, don't limit your choices to the ones I posted. List others if you think they're worthy. Some say AJ McCarron will win it . . .

That's the sleeper. An Alabama QB could be in the running every year as long as Saban is coach because they won't make mistakes. McCarron is better than any UA QB that Saban has had.

I think the only way Clowney will win is in USC goes undefeated or maybe one tough loss and he has a few more of those hits like against Michigan or 1-2 pick 6's.

Bridgewater will have the numbers but Louisville has to go undefeated. One loss and they are through.

Despite its motto, how many times has the Heisman winner truly been "the most outstanding college football player in America" over the past 25 years? Not many.

More often than not, the winner has been the qb of the best team in college football

To quote Mike Golic: It's become a QB and RB award and a popularity contest. That's all it has become.

I predicted that he'd be in the running once I saw he was selected as the starter. I saw him at Blinn JC before he got to Auburn.

My leaders:

Mariota
Manziel
McCarron
Clowney
Miller
DeAnthony Thomas

Last year, before the Bama - LSU game, I told everybody to watch out for #4, the true freshman running back for the Crimson Tide. Well, LSU didn't listen. Now I'm telling y'all again . . . when it comes to the Heisman, watch out for #4 . . . you have been warned . . .

So you told Les Miles directly?

My Top 5:

1. AJ McCarron (Alabama)

2. Aaron Murray ( Georgia)

3. Carlos Hyde (Ohio State) He will miss too much time with the suspension he got from Urban. Not to mention I think there are better RBs on the team that will shine in his absence.

4. Stephen Morris ( Miami FL)

5. Jordan Lynch (Northern Illinois)

Juke,
See my comments about Hyde. He will miss at least 3 games due to all the hoopla over Urban being soft when it comes to suspending players. So poor Hyde got to suffer even after the video pretty much cleared him of not initiating any contact with that female. He can thank the media on Urban's arse about Florida for that. LOL.

Shame to, because I think he will be the key player for their team. He is like the first true 1000-yd RB that Urban Meyer will have had in his career. lol
