Birmingham is the best venue, especially with the pending building of a domed stadium. People get sick of going to a dayum sinking arse city that ain't gonna be here after a category 5 hurricane destorys it.

At the very worst, rotate it between:
Birmingham
Houston
N.O.
Dallas
Shreveport
Mobile
Jackson
Huntsville
Little Rock
Montgomery
Bartram,
I agree that the SCG should be rotated between cities however I believe that it should be rotated between Dallas, Houston, and New Orleans where there are corporate sponsors that will be willing to sponsor such an event and a facility that do the fans, the conference, and the event justice. I mean let's face Birmingham is cool but the city and the stadium are not adept in hosting an event such as this with hospitality and conveniences that will make the average swac fan want to attend even though his team is not participating. The one thing that can be said for the Bayou Classic is that it has been successful over the years because the city of New Oleans and the Superdome appeal to more than just fans of Grambling and Southern.

New Orleans didn't even want to keep the executive offices of the SWAC, so do you really think they want to host the SCG?

As far as those other cities go...didn't we approach them about hosting the game during its inception? Didn't they say....GO AWAY?

Yes I really believe that NO would love to host the SCG,
Especialy since one of the Louisiana schools has been a participant since its inception. I realize that you Bama folk are partial to keeping the game in Alabama just as I am partial to moving it to Louisiana. I think if you really look at where the game has its best chance to prosper you cannot argue with either Houston(Reliant Stadium), Dallas(Cotton Bowl or Texas Stadium), New orleans (Superdome), or even Atlanta( Georgia Dome). There are simply no venues in Alabama that are attractive enough to make the average fan dip into his Christmas savings to attend the SCG, especially considering the fact that he probably just spent a grip at the Bayou Classic just two weeks before. The bottomline is that a fan will spend money on travel if the venue has other attractions other than the game itself. The mentality is why spend the extra money to travel to a less than appealing city when we can kick it at the crib and be amused by the antics of the BET commentators on the tape delayed broadcast.

...and I'm sure that's due to the great love and respect they've shown to the SWAC in past.

Those of you who bring up this arguement every year keep attempting to make it an "Alabama thing," but as I've said before...THE SWAC AIN'T GOT NO MONEY! The SWAC Executive offices as well as Legion Field in Birmingham are FREE OF CHARGE!

When one of these other cities will welcome us to their domes and stadiums, I will go along with everyone else. I will not, however, hold my breath waiting on that to happen.

Blacknbengal,,,,

apparently as bad as you contend that is,,, it's a hell of a lot better than your choices being as how they are not hosting the SCG. :p

sour grapes. GET OVER IT!!!!

Just sour grapes from these malcontents.

That's because those that attempt to do that are working off the old Alabama paradigmn and the Alabama image they were indoctrinated with via television. They just don't get it. If LA/N.O. sit on dey arse and take the SCG/SWAC for granite, then another state/city will sieze the opportunity and take the SWAC from them because today it's more about economics and not loyalty to a dayum city or state. The SWAC will move from Birmingham if another city comes up with a better deal or if Little Rock becomes another Charlotte/Atlanta/RDU. To hell with all this, "de SWAC CG should beez in N.O. because'in it beez our devine birth-rite" foolishness.

The SWAC also has this to look forward to in Birmingham:
Birmingham Dome

That project if it ever get off the ground is about 10 years from completion. Didn't see a projected finished date.

Play it on the home campus of the overall conference winner (team with the best record) as a reward for a successful season.
At least then you should have local fans in attendance.

The locals will come to see a championship game because of the hype surrounding the event. Plus this close to the holidays a lot of folk return to their North La roots. Occasionally, you get a transplanted yella to come up that way and visit in Madison Parish.

(Still ain't understanding how a good christian North La sister got hooked up with a dayum Scotlandville yella)

Don't forget I use to roam the Gilbert, Wisner, and Winnsboro area too. :D

I THINK THE SWAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SHOULD BE PLAYED IN NEW ORLEANS. THERE IS A LOT OF THINGS TO DO THERE AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE WEATHER BEING BAD. MORE BLACKS WILL ATTEND IN NEW ORLEANS. IF I HAD TO PICK ANOTHER CITY, IT WOULD BE HOUSTON. THESE TWO CITIES ARE THE ONES BLACKS TRAVEL THE MOST. NO ONE WANTS TO TRAVEL TO BRIMINGHAM B/C THERE IS NOTHING TO DO THERE. I KNOW THAT IS WHY I DON'T ATTEND BUT IF IT WAS TO BE IN ONE OF THESE TWO CITIES I WOULD BE THERE EVERY YEAR. IT MIGHT BE BETTER TO ROTATE THE SWAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

The game should be played in Jackson.
Centrally located along with the best fans in the SWAC.
Its a no brainer, but we dont have any brains in the SWAC office.
