The game should be played in New Orleans. Why do you think there aren't any bowl games played in Birmingham? There isn't anything to do in Birmingham before or after the game.

Why not Dallas

Dallas has a large number of HBCU fans. We get one game a year and thats it. I know we could get at least 30k no mater who shows up.

Dallas fans would fill it up, but they will leave after halftime......

It needs to be in Jackson, New Orleans, or Memhpis!!!

A real center location!!

I agree.

So true, it doesn't need to be here. These folks out here don't know the first thing about Black College Football. It needs to be in a city that black folks frequent a lot when it comes to football. A city such as Htown or New Orleans would suffice.

Unless you say "party" or something like that Dallas fans won't come. We came back for Paul Quinn and they failed to show. Their not real football fans.

It should be played in a city that wants the game, and will offer some incentives to the SWAC to play it there. Hell, move it to Los Angeles if they will make such concessions, 'cause it ain't like the SWAC has any money!

That's my second home, and it can be held in the Rose Bowl. If you can scrape the UCLA script letters from center field and UCLA and BRUINS from the endzones, you may get the two participating teams names there!

If the Rose Bowl won't have us, let's go across Tinseltown a few miles east of Pasadena, to the heart of Downtown LA (Gangland, U.S.A.) to L. A. Memorial Colesium where the USC Trojans play and use their field. You'll get many Black folks out there. They maybe crips and bloods (and their gangsta h**s,) but they'll be there!

I think the game needs to be located closer to the central SWAC fanbase. The majority of this fanbase lies in Louisiana and Mississippi. This would give more fans an incentive to attend the game when their teams don't make it.

Since weather is also a factor, we should look for a city with an indoors stadium. New Orleans and Houston are my choices.

Uh, lewie, I was being facetious!

No one is going to L. A. for the SCG....and their not going anywhere else either! Did you not understand (or read) the first paragraph of my post? If not, see below:

People, hear this...

Houston, New Orleans, Memphis and every other city with a stadium has been mentioned. Didn't we peddle ourselves to these great American cities when the concept of the SCG came to the table? Hell, New Orleans didn't even make any efforts to retain the executive offices when the lease expired in 1999. Rather, they told you to go to basement and get as many cardboard boxes as you like to put your schit in, because we don't want any of it left here!

Unless some of you have a bank account in Zurich or Geneva, and can fund playing the SCG in one of these aformentioned cities, I wouldn't continue to beat this horse that's been dead for a while now.

Why not get SouthWest Airlines to sponsor the game and have the game at a new city that flies too every year.

AAMU Alum:

I understand your points but with the dismal attendance in the last two years, I don't see the SWAC with a lot of bargaining power. Add to the fact that the games is only shown on BET. Not too many cities will woo a game with weak attendance and limited TV coverage.

Houston pressed hard for the Bayou Classic so they will negotiate if the city can make money and receive exposure from the game.

I think the SWAC needs to pick a city to grow the game. The conference can eat the cost the first two years and work on increasing the attendance. Once the attendance increases, they can go to the table with better bargaining power.

If Valley and Texas SO played in Houston or Itta Bina it wouldnt draw if the game was FREE.

it has been almost free and it has not drawn anything. Last season it drew an "estimated" 500 fans to Houston.

Even Dorsey said one season he played at Rice Stadium against TSU and was amazed at the lack of fans in America's 4th largest city.

The game has been lucky to get a few schools in close range but the tide will turn one day and you will an odd combination.

Folks don't realize it but TSU has came within one game of going to Birmingham in 1999 and 2000. A bobbled fumble by their capable punt returner prevented it in 99 and a bonehead call by Thomas in 2000 prevented the next year.

Southwest Airlines has had some affiliation with the SWAC previously, and they also fly to Birmingham. That's not the problem. The issue is folks coming TO THE GAME, regardless of where it's held.

HAS THERE EVER BEEN ANY BOWL GAMES IN MISSISSIPPI...PERIOD??????:lmao:

Birmingham, Without Question.

Birmingham is the best venue, especially with the pending building of a domed stadium. People get sick of going to a dayum sinking arse city that ain't gonna be here after a category 5 hurricane destorys it.

At the very worst, rotate it between:
Birmingham
Houston
N.O.
Dallas
Shreveport
Mobile
Jackson
Huntsville
Little Rock
Montgomery
