I think all of this is moot becasue Vowels is not going to move out of Bham. :read:

I feel on this. But I think one of the first thing I would look at is centralized location for every school, a venue that can hold the event and area that has high black population. I dont believe it necessary has to be a dome due to the south weather but that can be consider.

So you aint talking about how many poeple at the game... you are talkin about if the stadium is filled or not??????

You sound like those IAA championship folks talkin about "we sold out the championship game" and "the SWAC championship game was empty"... when in reality the SWAC championship game had more folks than the IAA championship game.

I have to agree with you there. The SWAC Championship has outdrawn the I-AA Championship game every year.

Dallas would be the perfect spot. WHY?

Major interstate for those who have to drive.

Two Airports. American Airlines has direct flights from every SWAC location to Dallas. With the Wright Admendment being repealled, Southwest Airlines can get to any SWAC city from Dallas.

3 to 5 stadiums to host the game (Cowboys new stadium, Cowboy old stadium, Cotton Bowl, DISD Stadium, etc.).

HUGE HBCU Alumni base. HBCU Alumni pack the AAC for HBCU night with the Mavs. HBCU Alumni pack the State Fair Classic. HBCU Alumni would pack this game too.

You would have the same problem as B-ham. Not centrally located, cold weather. If we want this thing to work, move it to Jackson.

Do like C-USA...hold it at the school with the best record at the time of the championship game...

Hell with this glorified high school district that is the SWAC..might as well reward the team that beat the rest of District 8-3A the first go-round...

It would also add emphasis to the 9-game welfare mandate...every game would count..and to the victor...goes the home field.....two weeks from Thanksgiving weekend (to accomodate the possibility of SU, Gram and Bama State getting in)...

But I digress..i'm going back into my hole...I'll just sit aside and watch y'all throw thinly-vieled smack attempts on the sports board...

i'm out...holla ..

BTW: :topic: WalkWitAPanther....congrats on being named AD at PCC mane...I'll be rooting for you to do well...

How does weather affect a stadium with a retractable roof? Is it not cold and rainy in Jackson, MS on Dec 16th? Jackson will be BHam all over again once 1) bad weather sets in AND/OR 2) J-State isn't in the SCG.

That's just it dahill. We have been getting less than 30K over the last few years. Why continue to play in a 60K stadium when we don't get half the place filled up. We need to stop trying to copy the SEC. We need to study what they've done in the MAC and their title game.

Yeah, but if you have the game at the school with the best record's campus....suppose Valley and Tex Southern start winning.....you're looking at a 5000 seat stadium at Texas Southern and who's gonna go to valley to see a game?

I like the idea of having it in Shreveport at Independence Stadium. It's a nice stadium. You have the casino boats to provide entertainment as well as the River District area. It's easily accessible by highway and Shreverport has a regional airport.

You shole is right Sperm. Some folks seem to think that Jackson is some miracle cure all, as if sooo many folks from all the SWAC schools are just itching to get to Jackson.

If the championship game is moved to Jackson, what happens when memorial is torn down for the rumored new med school building?

Rumors are like....well you know...until it actually happens its just another rumor. Remember they have been talkin about putting a roof on Legion Field and it's still not there.

 Sperm. Not denying anything you've written, but personally, Dallas is a bore. Houston is the better of the two Texas options.

Houston does have more to offer than Dallas, but Dallas is fun. I think Dallas would support the SCG better than Houston.

Valley and the conference could work a deal to use Veterans in Jackson. The same with TSU/PV in the city of Houston. UH could be an option.

What if the facility is BOOKED for high school playoffs?

EX. UAPBs Golden Lion Stadium holds 12.5K and will host the SCG. They could not go to LR and request for War Memorial because it is used for high school playoff/championship game that weekend.

As far as Jackson is concerned, great central location, but when the weather is bad, it is no different than BHam.

co-sign
its has the whole package!!!!!!!!

I really think that idea would really work for basketball. Free facilities... Plus the host school would get a portion of the revenue to pay for the operation of the tournament. To my knowledge most of the SWAC schools have decent facilities in basketball now that Grambling has step up.

For football, we should go with Jackson. We need to make sure it is no more than a five year if that long given the fact they are talking about building Jackson State a new stadium.

Move Basketball to Baton Rouge (RiverFront Arena)... Move Football to Jackson!

I vote for Intergallactic Stadium on the west coast of Saturn.

Basketball can be played on Mercury, since it's the closest to the sun, and the players are in those jerseys and shorts.
