Plz respond w/ intelligence and reasoning supporting the purported move of the SWAC HQ to any of the following cities as well as a city that isn't listed:

 • Let it stay in Birmingham because of the associated perks that were included in the package (free rental, etc)
 • Montgomery, Alabama
 • Atlanta, Georgia
 • Mobile, Alabama
 • Jackson, Miss
 • Hattiesburg, Miss
 • Gulfport, Miss
 • Shreveport, La
 • Monroe, La
 • Alexandria, La
 • Baton Rouge, La
 • Lake Charles, La :read:

Which one though SLT? And there was talk of a domed stadium in B'ham in the future. :read:

Currently, there are 2.5 (I say half because Irving's Cowboy stadium isn't really "enclosed" lol) domed stadiums that are in the SWAC footprint, so to speak. Which one?

Funny. I didn't include the Superdome in the initial proposal for stadiums! DAMMIT!

I would probably go with the Superdome or Georgia Dome...that's just my opinion. :)

Jackson(Memorial Stadium)
if not than for Weather purposes..The Superdome.......Both Centralized Locations.....

I think it should be played on the campus of the team with the better record in the title game. By playing it on one of the campus sites of the teams in the game, you should be able to garner a sellout crowd or atleast close to it.

Let's be real people, we will never put 60K in the stadium for the title game like you see in the SEC, Big IIX or ACC. 30-40K is a good day in the SWAC in December.

What you just said makes no sense. Average stadium in the SWAC holds 19,000 people (average).... so that throws out your 30-40k unless Jackson State host it in Memorial every year.

That's just it dahill. We have been getting less than 30K over the last few years. Why continue to play in a 60K stadium when we don't get half the place filled up. We need to stop trying to copy the SEC. We need to study what they've done in the MAC and their title game.

I really think that idea would really work for basketball. Free facilities... Plus the host school would get a portion of the revenue to pay for the operation of the tournament. To my knowledge most of the SWAC schools have decent facilities in basketball now that Grambling has step up.

For football, we should go with Jackson. We need to make sure it is no more than a five year if that long given the fact they are talking about building Jackson State a new stadium.

So you aint talking about how many poeple at the game... you are talkin about if the stadium is filled or not??????

You sound like those IAA championship folks talkin about "we sold out the championship game" and "the SWAC championship game was empty"... when in reality the SWAC championship game had more folks than the IAA championship game.

Like I said earlier... not enough notice... events are planned for the arena/gymnasium months or even a year in advance.

PUT IT IN A MAJOR CITY WITH A BIG CORPORATE DEMO AND MAJOR AIRPORT.

FREE DOESN'T ALWAYS = GOOD.

SHOULD BE IN A SPORTS CITY.

DALLAS OR HOUSTON!

Man you have me confused with someone else. I don't give a dayum what the 1-AA championship folks say or think. I'm throwing out some ideas to help grow our championship game.

20k in Mumford, Robinson Stadium or Crews looks looks much better to future recruits of SWAC schools than 30K in Legion Feild, the Superdome or Reliant.

DAHILL, don't even entertain this thread man. Waste of your time. Illogical arguements being made here.

I disagree. This is why I like Houston. Houston only has the Labor Day Classic so once that is done, they can promote the SCG. Black people flock to events....I could get on the phone now and probably get 5-10 people to go to Houston with me to a championship game. I may not be able to do that for Jackson. To me, that is the difference. No game that has 60K people is due to the fans of that school. People go to the Bayou Classic and it ain't got nothing to do with them.

has it stopped GSU from getting ALOT of recruits from Birmingham?

This is where planning gets involved. The SWAC office should ensure that each school is on board with the plan before they institute the change. The schools would then know not to schedule an event in their areana during that week. I'm speaking of basketball only.

I cut for this idea. :read:

I'd like to see the game played in Memphis - not a covered stadium but it is centrally located. The airport can handle the crowd and their are hotels everywhere. Casinos could be sponsors, as well as, some other corporations in Memphis such as Kellog's and Federal Express, i.e. Memphis folk go to games and there are other outlets that can attract the crowds - malls, casinos, dog track, Beale Street.....how would Memphis grab you?
