What types of hotels do you prefer?

I wanna be your lover...
Chain (Holiday Inn, Marriott, Motel 6 etc.) or boutique?

I was brought up on the brand name chains...but I tell you, I've had more fun and better experiences with the boutique ones. They tend to small, antique-ishly furnished, with a lot of hospitality. I've stayed at the St. Anne/Marie Antoinette Hotel in NEw Orleans on two occassions. Y'all this is practically right on Bourbon street, they had valet parking and check out was 12 noon.

I don't have anything against the brands...but I find them to be overpriced and not that hospitable. You pay for EVERYTHING including that $6 water they have a complimentary tag on in your room. :smh: Talk about pissing me off... :uzi:

I have only done Chain so far. When I get my money up, I will try some boutiques. The Mississippi Gulf Coast used to have some very nice locally owned hotels before Katrina as well. I went to plenty of Mississippi Association of Supervisors conventions down there.

I am a Hotel snob. So I prefer to stay at the better hotels out there. But I still look for good deals on them. I usually prefer the Marriott family of hotels, Hilton family of hotels, Hyatt, Inter-continental, Ritz-Carlton(when I can afford it or get a good deal), Loews, Westin, etc. Some of the boutique hotels are really nice as well.

No Motel 6, Super 8s, even some of the lower end hotels of big chains can be so bad that it makes me:vomit:

They have to first be CLEAN.....I like nice hotels, but reasonable...

Doors have to be interior access, no exterior doors for me.....

I would like to try a Bed and Breakfast....:)

Whichever one accepts my corporate discount. :emlaugh: lol

 Same here... On my own dime, I usually do a Marriott or Hilton property because of the rewards programs those offer...But I travel ALOT with my job and they ALWAYS set me up at the finest spots, both chain and boutique... My kids get to travel with me sometimes and now them lil suckas expect 5 star hotels everytime we go somewhere. We stayed at a Residence Inn in Houston a few days ago and my kids were like, "Residence Inn???? Are you serious mom????" Lil spoiled crumb snatchaz! Ain't got narry a dime to pay for nothing, lol! But this government gig has sorta spoilt me too.:goodbad:

Stayed in one in downtown Jackson, and it was really, really nice. The breakfast was great!

I don't really have a preference as long as it's clean and comfortable.

I'll do either Hilton (Hampton Inn) or Marriot. Hilton Gardens are nice, but don't hardly have any complimentary services. Some of the newer chains like Candlewoods Suites and Microtel seem to be bargains for those quick trips.

I only stay at Hyatt properties because I’m a Hyatt Gold Passport member. You can accumulate points for a free night. The rooms don’t come cheap but they always give me something for free when I check in. I have received stuff like a free breakfast, champagne, and one time I was upgraded to a suite. I can get a discount on Avis car rentals and get Delta Skymiles points. I probably want see a real saving for a while, but Hyatts are nice and they have been good with the customer service.

Never stayed at a Hyatt. I'm planning to stay at one in Houston in a couple of months.

I'm a Hilton Chain fan. They have the best rewards program. I get airline Miles and Hotel points on each stay. When one of the Hilton brands is not available for me, then I'll do Marriot and then Holiday Inn. My work keeps me on the go so I'm able to get enough points and miles through work travel that I've been able to pay for personal travel using points and miles.

I typically do chains... Hilton or Marriott. It just all depends on how the $ is flowing at the time. Last year at the family reunion the host hotel was the freaking Super 8. Suffice it to say most everyone moved down the street to the Hilton Garden Inn. And yep the planning committe got cursed out.

Are you refering to the Fairview Inn? If so yep the food is awesome. They have a great Mothers Day brunch.

The Fairview Inn has a great Sunday brunch.

The Old Capitol Inn on State Street is really, really nice. On the road, I tend to stay with the Marriotts. Mainly because I have so many points with them.

Don't remember the name. It was a historic mansion on North State Street. Not sure if it's a B&B anymore.

If it was down past Baptist hospital in Belhaven then yep it was the Fairview. Never stayed there but I"ve alwasys wanted to. Been to few wedding receptions and such there. Roi you were right around the corner from me. I live right there in Belhaven.
The Old Capitol Inn on State down by the library is nice also. We have gone there for lunch but again never stayed there. Maybe that will be my treat once I get this child settled at school in the fall.

They are nice and they bend over backward for you, especially in San Antonio and Dallas. They have a bed and breakfast buffet deal. I like it, but my wife did not mainly she is not in to breakfast. The Grand Hyatt in New York of all places is a dump and the most expensive. Even the pictures online are clappy, but it is so close to everything. I want to try the one in Houston also.

I read the Hilton had a good rewards program. In fact, the author of the article I was reading was comparing the Hilton to the Hyatt. He felt the Hyatt was ripping people off. I just never had a bad experience with the Hyatt. The staff is always so nice. After I get my free night I might switch.

Chains. I prefer Hilton Properties over Marriot. Hilton Garden Inns are great.

I like the Westin Hotels and the new Holiday Inns.

Not real big on the boutique hotesl yet.
