What counts as a swac win? Please will someone explain.

Que your are another example of the problem. I am talking about playing games that will make you money on the road idiot. You think USM plays Alabama and Penn State and teams like that for the fans. Playing those type games is what gives you exposure and revenue to build your program. But you probably are just satisfied with beating Valley and Alcorn every year. Get out of the 60's man.

I guess the Miami's, Oklahoma's, and Fla State's of the world are just sitting around waiting for a call from a SWAC school wanting to play them.

Hornet don't you know that Nebraska, Florida, Miami, and some of the other schools play 1-AA schools every year. Our problem is we have do nothing athletic directors that don't have buisness skills. I am pretty sure there are plenty of 1-A schools that would love to play Jackson St.,Grambling,Southern and some of the other schools in the SWAC. I guess you foret Grambling played Louisville a couple of years ago. How much money did they make?

Dude you don't know a thing about Robber. You run your crab ass on this board, ask a question, don't like the answer, and start judging me??? Anybody will tell you I rarely agree with the SWAC office. I actually understand why certain games are still played and you don't. But I'm the one with the problem??? Seems to me you just can't grasp a simple concept.

And you keep harping on Gram playing Louisville. Why??? SU did the same with Tulane 2 years straight. JSU did the same with USM this year. But all you see is Gram. But those opportunities are few and far between. The BCS is making it less and less attractive for I-A's to schedule I-AA programs. Every 4 years they let those games count. And then you have those schools that just ain't trying to make it a habit of playing I-AA schools. Unless there's some kinda of special relationship between administrators or an absolute emergency, they ain't happening too often. You act like it's as simple as picking up the phone and calling Alabama and scheduling a game with the Tide. You got a lot to learn.
 
CurtDog, if you are not excited about what is going on in the SWAC, over the next three weeks of the season then you don't like SWAC football.

Most conferences consist of only 4 to 5 good teams who can complete for the championship. By going to two divisions more excitement was created. For example, if we did not have the divisional concept then everyone's season would be over because of GSU record.

The East will be exciting for atleast two more weeks if JSU can upset AAMU who has won six straight game since losing the first two. Now any football fan know that based on preseason predictions AAMU should be in 4th place in the East Divison, but in Nov AAMU is leading the East by 1 game. AAMU can win the East outright by beating JSU and Alcorn, but a combination of losses by AAMU will opened the door for JSU or Alcorn to make it to the SCG.

AAMU played five ranked team this year, but these teams are the best that black college football has to offer(not counting Jacksonville). JSU has been a powerhouse for years and if you want to win championships we must beat not only them but also SU, GSU, AlST, TnSt and others.

Playing a full SWAC schedule and winning is a difficult task. Therefore, if our teams play too many 1A schools during the season then they would be taking a chance winning its own conference chamipionship.

I am enjoying the SWAC because it is the best BCF conference in America and we are growing at a rapid pace. I have seen a lot more interest shown by Presidents of SWAC schools since we have been in the conference. I don't think any of our leaders are taking the conference lightly anymore.

BTW, the SWAC is elite in its own way. You have the top HBCUs from TX, LA, AL, AK and MS. These are all State schools. How can you get any better unless we add FAMU and TnSt.

I think too many people run down the SWAC rather enjoy the excitment that is being produced. I would like to attend more SWAC games but it seems like we are playing on the same day of the other games I would like to see. Last year when we played in Grambling it was great to see a lot of Swac pagers from other schools at the game. They didn't have to come but they were there.
 
But why not schedule some money games against some of the 1-A schools like Grambling did or like Florida A&M does if you want to fill your schedule.

First, most of those schools will only schedule 1 1AA school per year. Second, those schools got 85 scholarships vs 63 or less for SWAC SCHOOLS. THis is not basketball, it makes a difference. It takes a physical toll on your team to play up like that. So no one with sense would subject there team to 3 or 4 games like that a year.<BR><BR>BTW, most of us here rarely agree with the swac office, and we all have vision (more than you). We can just understand that the conference games are scheduled first (so there was never any question and chairman is incorrect, the coaches do not pick which games count) THEN YOU CAN SCHEDULE ANYONE ELSE (anyone else includes the other conference teams). IF you don't open your mind up enough to say the conference games were decided first, you'll never see it.
 
Mighty Dog what you are lookin at in this thread is a JSU fan mad because our game against GSU didnt count as a conference game!

Tigerpride I hope you are right. We really need to look at the way we are doing things with scheduling. Not to mention some other things.
 
MightyDog, ask Miami why they will not schedule a lot of I-AA games. They played FAMU this year, but the year that they played McNeese it cost them the National Championship.
 
Let me get you straight Tru. No one set me straight. You damn right I am mad because the AA&M game did not count. If you were in the same situation you would feel the same way. Just get ready to take this a-- whipping Saturday and shut up.
 
No one else from JSU is upset about this. The rotating schedule is fair to all parties. There are years that the JSU-Gram game did not count as well. So this just evens things up. Last year SU beat ASU in a game that did not count but JSU did not go crying about that. Other conferences use the same set up and it works. It's not AAMU's fault that JSU did not beat ASU or Gram.
 
Tigerpride I agree. We did not take care of business against Grambling. But not what my argument is. The only thing I am saying is if you play games against teams in your conference they should count in the standings. That's it!!!!

AAMU must continue to win if we are going to make it to the SCG. JSU and Alcorn can determine there own fate just like AAMU. If Curtdog cannot see the excitement in these final three week he is just plain slow like Trud said.

Even Robber and GR never like the SCG, but I have seen them at everyone of them.

NO EVERYONE DOES NOT AGREE WITH THAT.<br>You really got to have a low IQ to not understand. The every game should count is having a kindergarden mentality to a high school problem. But I guess if you have a kindergardern IQ, you won't understand. <br><Br>SO I'll use some reverse logic for a minute. Start with this simple fact, Grambling and AAMU are not playing a confernce game in 2002. In almost all large (10+ team) conferences every team does not play every other team. Take this year, LSU does not play Georgia. (Have I lost you yet???)
So let's back up to last year and you are Grambling's AD. You say to your self 3 times, "We are not playing AAMU in a conference game in 2002". Well I got an open date on Sept 14 I need to find a game. Let me look at what other teams don't have a game on Sept. 14. Well last year we played AAMU on this date, so they probably don't have a game on this date either. Well let's look at some other schools that will draw a crowd, FAMU -- booked, TSU - playing already, Howard - that cross country trip is too expensive, PWC (fill in the blank) they don't wanna give me a return home date and they don't bring many fans either(see other threads). Well even though it doesn't count, the best decision for us is to play AAMU even though it does not count in the SWAC standing. They travel well, our fans know them and will come out, and we got a good rivalry with them. And to top it off, that damn Mighty Dog is tailgate king. So let's schedule them, even thought the game won't count as a SWAC game, but it makes sense (moneywise, schedulewise and fan interest wise) to play anyway. BUT WAIT, THERE WILL BE SOME CEMENT HEAD WITH A KINDERGARTEN UNDERSTANDING THAT WON'T UNDERSTAND THAT THIS GAME DON'T COUNT IN THE SWAC STANDINGS. IT WAS SCHEDULED AFTER ALL THE GAMES THAT COUNT WERE DECIDED.(ALSO MAD CAUSE THEIR TEAM GOT THEY ARSE DRUGG, AND NOW THEY ARE DESPRITE FOR HELP). Glad we have a choice.<br>I guess to be alumni, doesn't necessarily mean you graduated.
 



Lewis, you did a great job on this one.

Overall I think the ADs go a great job with the schedules, but I would not travel to Stillman.

Well, I am sorry Lewis for making that assumption. I see everything you are saying but I honestly refuse to believe that if an AD did his job, that he could fill a schedule. Now if someone backs out, that is not his fault. One thing I like about our AD at JSU is that tries his best to schedule two years in advance. I basically already know my schedule for next year. However, I am sure that we can find some quality D1-AA regional teams to play. JSU, Gram and SU have several PWC's beating our doors down. You see McNeese is already upset with SU. I just don't like it PERSONALLY because I think that we need to get more exposure and play better competition. To me, playing games that don't count limits us and YES, I am even an advocate for JSU and SU not playing.

Playing games that don't count is some SWAC ***** rigging to have their cake and eat it too. We need to grow the SWAC, not smother. However, this still would not solve CurtDog issue because regardless AAMU would still be 4-0 and JSU would be 2-2. In his scenerio, the Gram game just would have never happened.

I could be wrong but I don't think this has been decided yet. I think that they will decide that in December at the SWAC meeting. But if that happens, we need to cancel the SCG.
 
Tigerpride, I understand saying I don't agree, but saying something is stupid or dumb because you don't/can't understand is something different. I don't really like it but I do understand it and sometimes it is better than playing garbage. It is easy to say, they could schedule someone else but really, when most schools have thier schedule made already, it is not that easy. Especially when our fans are so fickle for who they will come out for. And when you are trying not to be a ALA State and schedule a bunch of DII's. Again, it is not just filling the schedule, it is also making money. Like when we played Alcorn last week. The other chioces were D2 schools or northern Arizona (which we would have had to make a return trip next year costing a lot of money). Who do you think more fans would come to see, some no name PWC or Alcorn. Not a hard one.
