Wayne Brent: JSU Basketball 2013 recruiting

Sounds like some good things are brewing in Jackson. This is great for JSU which can only be good for the SWAC!

You can kiss Malik Newman goodbye lol. Mario Kegler is just as good tho, maybe better.

Just as good or better? Many people are projecting Malik Newman to be the best player in the nation in his recruiting class.

I've never seen this Mario Kegler kid, but he'd have to be very good to be just as good or better than Malik Newman.

Yes, a 6'6 shooting guard, one of the top players in his class. He sat out last year as a freshman. He has the talent, we will see if he puts in the work.

Malik has held that title for Best Freshman(9th) and Best Sophmore(10th) in his recruiting class. The other kid is damm good also. That back court would be unstoppable if Malik stays at Callaway.

Agreed.

After doing a little research on Kegler, it sounds like must-see high school basketball.

Not even close.

x2. Never seen this Newman kid play, but he'd have to be phenominal to be better than Chris Jackson.

And that's my point. The only reason he would stay in MS is to take that doubt away. He's been validated in every other way imaginable.

I just hope that if he leaves, it all works out for him. Look what happened to Reynardo Sidney. I was worried about LaQuentin Ross for a minute, but he's going to be okay at Ohio State next year. I don't know who The Buckeyes have coming in, but Craft and Thomas leaving should make Ross the man next season.

Where is Craft going? He is just a JR. I know Thomas is gone as a JR because his draft stock is a high as it is going to be. But Craft is not ready for the NBA. He will be back at Ohio State next year with Sam Thompson, Lenzelle Smith, Ross, Shannon Scott, Amir Williams. So basically everybody but Ravenel and Thomas. As for Ross he will do great next year. I remember he was at Callaway then left for Murrah then some prep school in New Jersey. He will slide into the starting lineup for Thomas. They will be deep on the wing.

Ohio State only has 2 maybe 3 schollies to give next season and two of them are going to Marc Loving and Kameron Williams. Loving is a 6'8 Forward and Williams is a 6'3 guard. They have some kids on the bench who did like Ross his Fr year and not see any action. 2014 is when Matta is bringing in the gauntlet of recruits. Think he has 3-4 verbals already.

Thanks, JR, I thought Craft was a Sr.

Yeah it seems like he has been there forever. LOL. Dude will be a good backup PG in the NBA. Needs to work on his shot.

I am excited for Ross. That kid got some game. Actually he has a chance to be better than Thomas was.

He's no where near the talent of James "Hollywood" Robinson and a few others I have in mind.

Shat........... The SHORTS, Audi? Norris, Lancaster Gordon -(louisville), etc, etc. Just a few from ancient times. I had not even got up to HOLLYWOODs Murrah teams.

Hell Frat. He ain't even the best to come through Callaway. Aaron Brandon and Eddie Archie send help. Even Darrin Chancellor who went on to USM was not bad. If Eddie Archie would have had the grades, he was headed to Kentucky. Dude went to some National Camp and cleaned house.

Lancaster Gordon, Othella Harrington, Hollywood Robinson, Derrick McKey, Antonio McDyess, and the list goes on with bad arse mofos from the SIP in basketball. But Chris Jackson has to go down as probably the best HS player in Ms history. If not he is close. Folks sleep on the SIP players. But we have had some boys come through. Just get over shadowed by Football. If you just talking best guards to come through Ms then Malik will be in the top 5 if he keeps it up.

Craft ain't making no NBA  . Who is he going to guard, and his shot ain't good enough. He was exposed big time in that Wheat Shockers game.

Okay Jagtilludie. There are worse players in the NBA than Craft. Hell the NBA ain't playing one on one no more all the time. That kid will make a team. Nobody said he was going to be a starting PG in the league. But dude is athletic enough to guard backup PGs for 10-15 minutes a game. Stop hating on dude because he plays at Ohio State. LOL. Dude can guard some of the stiffs in the NBA. Not like he is going to be expected to be on Chris Paul or somebody all game long. Hell dude wants to go to Med School anyway. He is a decent athlete. You beloved SEC teams recruited him to play QB before he chose basketball over Football. Somebody like Popovich would love a cat like him off the bench. I do agree he better work on his outside shot more. He is not consistent.

No big ten or Ohio State hate. You didnt see the Wheat Shockers game. They left Craft open and Armstead drove past craft like he was standing still  . His jump shot ain't consistent and he cant guard at the next level. He is a great college player(system) but the NBA is a different game.

David Sanders, Former Provine and Ole Miss standout (current Northwest Rankin Coach) will be named Head Coach @ Callaway.

Like I said, he ain't going to be a starter in the NBA. LOL. But surely he can beat out some scrub on some of these benches in the NBA. Especially on a good team who only needs a few minutes a game to spell a starter. You can do worse than Craft to be your 2nd or 3rd PG on a NBA team. Plus we all know talent ain't the only thing that keeps someone on a team especially a bench player. Craft is the type of cat coaches love to have.

I actually think he will go to Med School or become a coach himself one day. Urban wants him to come play Football. LOL.

Cool. He played for Brent in HS and Brent got him to come to Ole Miss when Brent was an assistant there under Rod Barnes. Speaking of which, whatever happened to ole Rod?

Eddie Archie was a little before my time, but I heard he was a bad mofo at Callaway.
