Yeah, I heard all those stories about how it was back in the day. Stories about how Lombardi berated Jerry Kramer in front of his family, and made his kid cry. You rarely hear these stories regarding baseball for some reason.
Yeah that Lombardi stuff was wild. So was seeing that Papa Bear Halas story. Just different times. Phil Jackson was talking about Red Holtzman who was the Knicks coach like he was no joke. Times change and those coaches who don't adapt will be unemployed.
I think baseball was considered a civilized sport more than the other ones at the time. It was supposed to bring out the cerebral athletes. Thinking man's game. But of course you had some SOBs in the game like Ty Cobb. Could you imagine trying to manage that dude. LOL. If he was anything like that movie Tommy Lee Jones played him. I can only speculate on how those clubhouses were dealing with someone like him.
