Video show Rutgers coach abusing players

Yeah, I heard all those stories about how it was back in the day. Stories about how Lombardi berated Jerry Kramer in front of his family, and made his kid cry. You rarely hear these stories regarding baseball for some reason.

Yeah that Lombardi stuff was wild. So was seeing that Papa Bear Halas story. Just different times. Phil Jackson was talking about Red Holtzman who was the Knicks coach like he was no joke. Times change and those coaches who don't adapt will be unemployed.

I think baseball was considered a civilized sport more than the other ones at the time. It was supposed to bring out the cerebral athletes. Thinking man's game. But of course you had some SOBs in the game like Ty Cobb. Could you imagine trying to manage that dude. LOL. If he was anything like that movie Tommy Lee Jones played him. I can only speculate on how those clubhouses were dealing with someone like him.

Bob Knight came from a different era where even HBCU coaches would kick your arse. LOL. You could do things differently back then. But he won and his kids GRADUATED. I also don't think Bob Knight was as bad as this dude was with throwing balls at kid's heads. Nothing about Knight is hypocritical. Different era. You couldn't have done the military back then. Totally different now than it was then. It is a reason why Knight,Parcells, LaRussa are boys. All old school kick your arse mofos. But you can't do that isht no more.

yeah, nothing hypocritical about Bob Knight.......

I ain't feeling too sorry for him.
He will get another job, done made a lot of money at Rutgers, and Rutgers still owe him a $100,000 bonus that they have to pay.

Well you knew it was coming next.....

Tim Pernetti out as Rutgers AD

Tim Pernetti is out as Rutgers athletic director, two days after the basketball coach was fired following a video that went public of Mike Rice shoving, grabbing and throwing balls at players in practice and using anti-gay slurs.

The decision was confirmed to The Associated Press on Friday by a person familiar with the decision who spoke on condition of anonymity because an announcement has not been made yet. The school is to hold a campus news conference at 1 p.m. EDT.

Pernetti dismissed basketball coach Mike Rice Wednesday. The scandal has now cost Pernetti his position some five months after he didn't fire Rice when the video first became available.

Pernetti was given the video in late November by a former employee. With the approval of university President Robert Barchi, he suspended Rice for three games, fined him $75,000 and ordered him to attend anger management classes. But the video was broadcast Tuesday on ESPN, and prompted scores of sharp criticism nationwide.

Pernetti, 42, is a New Jersey native and a Rutgers graduate who played tight end for the Scarlet Knights from 1989-93.

The old coach in the SIAC at Paine College would do ish like that DURING games... Ronnie Spry.... I use to think Pettaway was mean until Paine came to AAMU every year.... he would cuss out players.. punch players on the court... he did it all.... I remember one game a player messed up... he called a timeout and made him run suicides during the timeout during the game.

No way a coach would put their hands on me like this and nothing happen to him. That would be the last time that coach put his hands on anyone after the beating he would receive. Coaches need to learn you cant do things like this no matter how you was raised.
