Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

On the Tom Joyner show this morning one of the attorneys from his legal defense team discussed this matter right here. She said that most likely when Vick takes the plea on Monday it will global taking into consideration any State charges. I guess we'll see Monday. All of this behind some funky azz dogs. I don't think the gambling ref had this much tv time. Dude plead gulity and that was the end. I wouldn't care if Vick would have killed 20 dogs, 10 pigs, a rhino, and a few ants, knowing we have crazy muddafuggin ninjas out here killing girlfriends, wives, and kids. They have ninjas out here doing some fugged up shat but I guess fido is worth more. Ninjas stabbing their kid in the head and they fussing behind some funky azz dogs. Y'all better not ever run over a dog on the street, the FBI and some dude named Felix from PETA will be all over you.

Precisely! I know I hit a couple of dogs in my day, ran over a squirrel, shot some birds that was sitting on the ground, put a magnifying glass and poured gasoline on some ants, caught some bees in a jar and starved them while rubbing their butts on a leather belt to remove their stingers, etc.......

Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

What's so dayum great about Michael Vick? kendrick, d-nice, what's so great about Michael Vick? What has he won? NOTHING!!

Ask the NFL, Nike, EA Sports, Topps, Air Tran, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, HBO Inside The NFL, Fox Sports, the city of Atlanta, Street & Smith, Sport Magazine, and anybody else that's had a hand in making him one of the biggest sports stars in the country, ask Arthur Blank for giving him the richest contract in NFL history, and ask all of those fans that have purchased his jersery's, and footwear why he's so great.

As far as those crazy arse nigra's out here killing people, get their friends to roll over on them, and testify against them like Vick's boys, and family did him, or get some witnesses to testify when they're bought in as suspects, and they'll be off the streets.

Hey man, I'm done with this, and I've spoke my peace. Just keep letting people do what they want because they're rich, and famous, who care's if they break the law, it should'nt pertain to them because they're black, it's all good baby. Just let the networks keep running all of Vicks highlights over, and over again all season, and take their great play of day, and make us watch it everyday on Sportscenter, better yet, let it get nominated for an ESPY.

Y'all have won me over, let me go get my copy of Madden 03, and all of my magazines with Vick on the cover, as a reminder of all the good press Vick has recieved over the year's, and I'll make sure to go to You Tube to pull up Mike's Nike Experience commercial, and see him doing all of those amazing things again with that kid.

What was I thinking? Mike is a great black athlete, and above the law; and him torturing, and killing animals is perfectly fine, as long as he's not doing anything to human's, he's setting a perfect example for all of those kids that look up to him. My bad fella's.

NICE

Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

 @ Nice. Dude, you're silly. @ going to You Tube for the Nike Commercials. Yeah, that's the only place those commercials will be aired now.

Hey, you guys are not going to roll over on me by telling the Feds about what I typed on here, huh? :uhoh: I mean, if so, then you guys could give me a heads up so I can go ahead and put my leave of absence in with my employer. :uhoh:

Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

I wonder if EA sports is still paying him because he is on Madden 08??

Also, I think I want to say my peace as well on this issue...

I am not supporting Vick just because he is black (even though I have no problem with that)... I am not supporting Vick because I think dogfighting is a minor crime... I am STILL and WILL support Vick because I don't think he needs to be demonized like he has been made out to be... Hell, Ronde Barber of the famous Barber Twins, said last week you could ask the majority of the NFL players and they will tell you they know of or have been to a dog fight....He made a stupid mistake in judgement.

Michael Vick broke the law, and he has to pay the piper... You do the crime, you got to be able to do the crime...

I just want all young NFL'ers, NBA'ers and MLB'ers to learn a lesson from this: You have to have separation at some point... Break them off 50 stacks and tell them this is what you have to do... No disrespect, but I am being held to a different standard now, and be gone....

My 02.

Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

I heard Emmitt Smith comment that Mike Vick would probably come back to the league playing another position. He seemed to be of the opinion that Vick will have been away from working at being a qb that the "experiment" would be over and he would go to another position. Dayum...but I don't see why he couldn't come back and play qb. He's only 27 years old... and if anything he would be too old to learn a new position. Plus why would he?

I mean, Doug Williams (though always a better passer than Vick) was away for a while and he came back and won a SuperBowl. Hell, even Tommy Maddox was out selling insurance before he came back and had a good season or two with the Steelers. I think Emmitt's tripping!

Like somebody posted, the QB is the face of the team. And no owner is gonna allow that face to be a felon, fresh from the big house, whose fall played out on the national front pages (not just the sports pages). Not to mention the PETA folk will probably be out in force against any team who would sign him. The Vick "story" won't be going away anytime soon.
I think Vick is done as a QB, and maybe even as an NFL player.

Emmitt may be simply "parroting" what he's heard from other folks. I did hear someone on NPR this morning (one of the lawyers on his legal team, I think) say much the same thing.

Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

Uncontrary to some opinions, I hope that we haven't seen the last of him as a player, because even when he gets out, I think he will still have a lot to offer somebody. I hope he uses his suspension wisely, and make the apporpriate donations to animal charities, take some classes, and keep his nose clean. His image can be rehabbed, he just has to go about it the right way.

Re: Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement

Vick deserves jail, and a shot at redemption

First, the case has already brought much needed attention to the horrors of dogfighting. Second, it's worth nothing that Vick will spend more time in jail than the most well-connected first offenders ? even those guilty of offenses as gruesome as these. He deserves that time, of course, which translates as the loss of at least one season, and possibly two, from the prime of his career. Beyond that, though, what would be accomplished by ending Vick's playing days?

What's more, as Goodell goes forward with his still-evolving conduct policy, I wonder how much Vick will pay for the previous commissioner's regime. The more you think about it, Paul Tagliabue dealt with criminal behavior much like Bud Selig dealt with steroids.

Consider just some of the cases that escaped the former commissioner's wrath. In the 1990s, Christian Peter, then an All-Big Eight defensive tackle, was arrested eight times at Nebraska, where he was twice accused of rape ? charges resulting in one out-of-court settlement and another conviction for sexual assault. Though the Patriots relinquished their draft rights to Peter, he would eventually play for three NFL teams.

Then there was Peter's Nebraska teammate, Lawrence Phillips, who pleaded to a brutal domestic abuse case before St. Louis took him with the sixth pick in 1996. Phillips would be arrested three times over the next 19 months. Later, the Dolphins would release him after he was accused of hitting a woman in a bar. Of course, that incident proved an insufficient deterrent for the 49ers who also gave him a shot.

Next, Rams defensive end Leonard Little. In 1998, while driving drunk, he ran a red light and killed Susan Gutweiler, a 47-year-old wife and mother. As per Little's plea deal, he got 90 nights in a work release program and 1,000 hours of community service. In 2004, Little beat another drunk driving case. Last year, he signed a new contract with St. Louis.

Jamal Lewis, a convicted drug trafficker, was suspended for all of two games.

Finally, there's Ray Lewis, who pleaded to obstruction of justice in a double-murder case. Today, he's more of a hero than ever.

^^^^^^

Even though there is some merit to all of that, it won't be because of dogfighting that Vick will probably never play another down in the NFL, it will be the gambling.

That would be a copout by the league. He did not violate their gambling policy.

I doubt it. The NFL has to tread lightly on the gambling thing. Since they participate in having teams publish injury reports. It for the Las Vegas folks and everybody knows it. You also got to remember Vick and his attorney Billy Martin have probably made a deal that leaves out the gambling aspect of it. Remember they consulted with the NFL before agreeing with the plea. I am sure Vick's plea is going to help save his career suspension wise. Even Mortenson said last night that Vick will play again in the NFL. Just not in the ATL. Even ole Arthur Blank acted like he wasn't in a hurry to get rid of Vick. It was as calm as I had seen Blank since all this started. Vick biggest issue is how much time will he get from that Judge and if Va really goes forward with their case against him.

Not true, a player can be suspended indefinitely for any association with gamblers or gambling-related activity, even if it doesn't involve betting on and/or fixing games.

Not necessarily. I will agree that the league has very inconsistent stances on gambling, but as I stated above, a player can be suspended indefinitely for any association with gamblers. Since the league is conducting its own independent investigation, a plea that doesn't include gambling still may not save him. Blank isn't going to cut Vick anytime soon because of salary cap ramifications, it will be much easier on the salary cap to cut him next June, which is when he'll probably be released. I agree that he still will have severe issues if Va presses ahead with its case.

They have specific comments about that in their policy. None of what they say even remotely looks like this type of betting.

I've yet to see anything that spells out which forms of illegal gambling are OK with the league. But even without that, with the unprecedented leeway the player's union foolishly gave the commissioner this offseason in handing out suspensions, Goodell could suspended him indefinitely just because

Man it's this type of thinking that holds black people up. "We're not making dope in our neighborhoods, the white man brings it in......We don't make guns in our community the white man brings it in.........Who gives a phugg????

Just because we're not at the root of something, doesn't make it right. So it was a white man that told Vick to buy the house, buy the dogs, buy the equipment to train the dogs, bet on dogs, kill the dogs?????? Get off that schit, in the big picture is Michael Vick the ringleadeer? No....But in HIS circle of friends he is, and in this case he is. Hell, let's blame the white man for making him a millionaire, and while we're at it, blame the white man for making Michael Vick so stupid, and blame the white man for picking Vick's ratting arse friends for him, cuz obviously he can't think for himself, the white man is at the root of his thought process.

NICE

You can blame him for all of that because if you have done any research on your history you would know that he has had a hand and is having a hand in your demise. If you don't agree you are just going out of your way to be out of touch with society. Don't get me wrong I'm not up holding Vick for his actions but what I am saying is that the punishment should fit the crime. A man shouldn't lose his lively hood for killing a d@mn dog. Because if that's the case I should go to jail because I just poured gas on an ant bed and lit them on fire, my company will be getting my resignation in the morning and I will be turning myself into the Dallas Police Department.

Now you're one of the first people to pull the "were you there???" card when someone assumes a black athlete or star did something wrong. Now, you here the guys that were in the thick of it say Vick killed dogs, you don't wanna believe folk that were right there. Why is that???

Because people lie, my question to you is why would you believe a criminal?

Let's be real here. Do any of you remotely believe Vick didn't do any of this stuff??? We got the millionaire, who buys the house, provides the equipment and funding to run the operation. Been boys with these guys for the longest. Y'all think for one second Vick wasn't right there on many occasions doing the exact same thing his boys were doing???

And as for discrediting them, y'all watch too much TV. This is the real world. What happened in this case happens in a whole lotta cases. Cops/prosecutors put heat on participants, and somebody agrees to tell. Do you actually expect the guys running a top notch illegal dogfigting operation to be squeaky clean. Where y'all from??? Mayberry??? If it were one guy, testifying against the 3 others, you might have a point. But it's the other 3 against Vick. Game. Set. Match. PLEA!!!

You scare me with your logic... Goggle 'Willie Lynch' please...

Dude, I've never said that Vick should lose his lively hood, and I hope when his legal troubles are over, that he will be re-instated into the league, and given another chance to play. I'm not a Falcon fan, but dude is exciting to watch, and I'm looking forward to seeing him play again, but he's committed a crime, and he deserves whatever the federal government, and his legal team agree to.

As far as doing my research on my history, I've done it over, and over, again, and I will keep researching it until the day I die. But as a proud black man, I'm tired of people like you, using the white man as a cop out everytime a black person does something stupid.

I grew up in a crime ridden neighborhood, full of the white man's drugs, alcohol, and guns, but there has never been a white man in my neighborhood who said yall have to drink my liquor, you have to sell, and use my drugs, and you have use my guns to rob, and kill your people. Those are choices people make on their own, some choose to go the right way, some choose not too, but in either case WE have a choice.

I lost a brother to the drug game, along with an uncle, a few cousins, and a whole lot of friends, and in no instance did we ever blame the white man. When my dad buried my brother, and his friends came by my parents house to tell my dad they were going to retaliate, my dad told them no, because that's the life my brother chose to live, and it came with the territory. Not "it's the white man, and his guns, and drugs why my son is dead."

I'm not knockinig you on your opinion, that's what you believe, hey man, it's all gravy baby, but Michael Vick had a choice, and he messed up, like we all have at some point in our lives. Some greater than others, but we have to get out of this "It's the white man's fault" mentality when we do.

NICE

I agree with this. Especially the bold part.

Dude you have no clue. But I'm gonna play along with you this once. You asked earlier, why would I believe a criminal? This ain't about what I would believe. I represent accused criminals all the time. This is about what a jury would believe. A federal jury at that. Now, as far as believing the criminal, you got Vick, who's accused of these acts, which for all intents and purposes, in the eyes of many, if not most, people in this county, makes him look like a criminal. And you got his boys, who everybody has portrayed as the scum of the Earth, now that Vick's dick is in a vice. They were all doing the same thing, together, according to the federal indictment, and according to these "criminals" Vick been hanging and partnering with for his entire life. They all admitted they did wrong, and are saying that he was doing wrong with us. It ain't hard to believe that Vick did what he's accused of a few times. All it takes is once. You see Vick took the deal. He ain't no fool. And if you were in his shoes, I'm guessing you wouldn't be either.

As for the Willie Lynch comment, you can take it and stick it up your azz. You don't know me.
