Some PEOPLE are very delusional when it comes to how important their university (bands) is in the grand scheme of things. A twelve to fourteen hour bus ride is not the d@m Chinese Water Torture. You should be glad that somebody outside the GRAMBLING, LA. area would want to see your FOOTBALL TEAM/band in person since yaw git yo' azzez waxed on national t.v. every year. The institution should be glad that its still receives an invite to participate in a classic. You don't see students from out-state-complaining about their journey for an education. Know wonder Doug left. His qb was a cry baby and students and alumni whine about going to civillization to attend a football game. People will show up if Valley or Alcorn plays. So believe me, yaw ain't important. And for that give up on a classic game in a Chicago comment. The minimum attendance is 30,000. Thats pretty good for a non-hbcu region of the country. And don't let JSU be a participant. thats forty thousand easy. In fact its one of the better places to attend a game. The stadium is located off the lake, restaurants galore, take a boat ride on the lake/river like Twista (You're So Sexy). You can just kick it. People in the area actually appreciate HBCU's. The only real problem lately has been the the renovation of Soldier Field. A game has not been played in a couple of years. There is no momentum carry over from year to year so it may have be a little slow in getting the ball rolling. People are actually planning trips to Champaign to see FAMU play the Illini. People will show if Valley plays. So believe me, yaw ain't important.

And I thought that the level of INTELLIGENCE was suppose to be high even at PWC's.

Here's a suggestion.

Why don't all of you all who need to assume why GSU's band is or isn't going anywhere just STFU!!!???!!! I swear that some of yall come up with the most ridiculous things when it comes to GSU.

Case in point:

No one said why problems arose.

The fact of the matter is that the band ain't going. The ish with AAMU is about 2 to three years old now, GIVE IT A FUGGING REST. THEY DIDN'T GO TO YALL, YALL DIDN'T GO TO THEM. MONEY WAS SAVED!!!! THE END!!!

BTW THIS IS THE SPORTS BOARD!!!!!!!!!!

.....they said TRANSPORTATION! You'a smart man I guess...I am; it aint hard to figure out the issue there.

Grambling's band does not want to come to Houston unless Texas Southern or a sponsor pays for them to come to Houston. Two years ago, Grambling's Doug Williams (Missouri City) Alumni Chapter here in Houston came up with the cash to get Grambling's band to Houston along with some cash from the Texans so they could perform at their game on Sunday at halftime.

Not true, Grambling nor the Douglas L. Williams Chapter ever ask Texas Southern for _hit. There is a possible BOTB event occuring the night before the game. It is proposed in a BOTB budget to assist with the travel arrangements and expenses like if a sponsor would and should cover.

That's what a real productive alumni chapter suppossed to do, assist their University Organizations with situations, recruitment, funding, donations, scholarships, equipment and enhancement for the University. If any band or group performs for a NFL, NBA, MLB, Areana League, team, etc. We should expect some type of donation to our programs. Everyone knows what it cost to travel these days, multiply that by 150 or better. Very expensive!!!!!!

All this stuff about Grambling's band ..... who gives a damn? The real losers here are Valley.

Y'all gonna move a game from Chicago to 10,000 seat Rice-Totten? Was Jackson - Veterans Memorial available? I mean, if Grambling is the draw that they say they are, surely Rice-Totten would not be able to hold them, right everybody? ;)

Then, why spend all of this time, effort, and typing on something that you consider MENIAL?

It was for educational purposes because you al live in a bizzaro world where you all actually think some one cares about the mode of transportation that a marching band takes to an event.

You are right. It did say transportation. Matter of fact, here's exactly what it said:

Lonza Hardy Jr., MVSU's director of athletics, said problems related to transportation of the opposing team's marching band prompted the move.

It did not say ,however, mode of transportation. So all this other shuck and jive everyone is talking is mute.

And just so all may know, my crab year of 96, we took four buses to Detroit, MI for a game, our first away game at that. That trip was longer than this supposed Chicago trip.

And if them changing the trip was because GSU didn't want buses, I don't blame them. The last time we had a game in Chicago, we flew in and out the same day of the game.

:smh: EXHIBIT A: A BRAIN ON FOREIGN SUBSTANCES

I Guess Its a Louisiana Thing I Know Southern Wouldn't Settle For A Bus Ride That Long. _ell they refused drum line because the jukebox DON't lose. You have to have some standards on what you will Do. Ask yourself do you want to ride a crampted up bus for that long just to get off and then get back on? or would you pay for i can make a dollar off you( not talking about the txsu case)? lets be real

Mannnnn, Grambling really gets a lot of people upset. Would anyone give a fuc if it wasn't Grambling involved. Also, I lived in that area of the country for three years and believe me it is the bands that they want to see. The bands are the draw, and Grambling band is greatly loved.

:lmao: :lmao: BWAHAHAHAHA, ahh man it is still funny. He said they band would triple our attendance. :emlaugh: Oh mercy, lord. We couldn't hold it in Crews if that's the case.

Boy, boy, boy. I see I struck a nerve with these Grambling people. Tell them that ain't smoove and ain't holdin' down nothin' they get kind of sensitive. Man its 2004 and GSU can't even draw in AL. (shoot, your own students won't even attend the game) when its 60 degrees outside. I'm just stating a fact. Since the departure of E Rob an Doug GSU has lost some of its national sentimental appeal. Playing in the BC is no longer a feather your cap because you all can't beat SU. We (JSU) can beat them in the Superdome, why can't you? (shrugs shoulders). Both schools lost another oppurtunity to come to civilization during football season. I can talk crazy about MVSU legitimately because I have relatives who attended the institution. Don't get me wrong, you all would be welcomed with opened arms off the lake (Soldier Field). But thats because like I stated earlier we can appreciate the fact that yaw showed up. We not sittin' around female doggin' about how a college from the cotton fields and the woods had to travel by bus to make the trip. So administrators want to deprive their students a trip to Chicag(and we talkin about the band, not the football players) because of a transportation issue. Man I hope yaw have hot time in the hoppin' town of Itta Bena.

The bold statement speaks volumes. Regional or statewide acclaim is the limit to your success. What is Chicago to a band that has performed for emperors and leaders from the Far East Japan (multiple occasions) to the west coast of Africa. Grambling is a Wonder of the World for American colleges and universities. Only amongst our own the aforementiioned quote transpires.

Playing in Chicago is like playing for NFL halftimes -- been there and done that -- if there is time we will fit you on our schedule! Being content and fascinated with Chicago is beneath us. But to some, this is most remarkable. We are Grambling!!!
Well,....you better say that!!!!

I just can't get over all these playa haters over here. Our business is our business.

This entire statement is unfactual, unfair and just a weak attempt at a cheap shot. There is just a way that this band travels with the interest of those students in mind!!!! We ain't in no cotton field ,...by the way. Don't yall worry about Grambling!!!!! Look to your own programs cuz we are going to take care of ours.

Gee Wizz,....you know you're on the top when all these Swackers got Grambling on their minds!!!

Man please, you Grambling folks kill me. We (MVSU's band) came down there in 99 to that piss poor azz stadium, and since then ya'll have been ducking coming to Itta Bena. You all came once after 99 and even then you all were trying to get out of it by holding the game somewhere else. That's one of the reasons that you all were off our schedule for a couple years and replaced with SU. We just got ya'll back on the schedule last year when we went down there. If your band doesn't come oh well, it's not like it's gonna be the end of the world, we will live. One more thing u aren't the attraction that u think u are, because the last time u came to Itta Bena your side was NO WHERE NEAR being full.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder if Doug or Eddie was still coaching if they would have paid for the the bands airfare????????????

I'm going against my own rules,....

just this one time.

I don't :slap: at MVSU but you are asking for it!!!!!

I hope you have more logical sense than that statement you wrote!!!!
Who the h3ll is ducking Valley????? If anything,...the reason why we were off your little schedule is because the last time we were over there,...your team was loosing sooooo badly that you guys wanted to fight. :shame: Talk about sore loosers. Our people aint going to drive over there because YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM nor your band is worth seeing. I'm not driving up there to see a beat down. H3ll I want to see a game!!!! That crap aint worth us coming up there!!!! I can understand your jealousy,.......certainly if you've never tasted anything outside Mississippi!!!!! :slap:

No, that wasn't the reason. The SWAC office just didn't require us to play you.

Was your side full? (Be careful when answering this question)

Ain't nobody hatin'. My school holds its own. GSU's logic is interesting because there is no rational invloved. You all just sound like its time to use the product in the last commercial your band performed in. And I am not refering to Coca-Cola either.

What does EA Sports 2005 football have to do with this?
