I agree that Luke's allegiance in the past was seemingly to the 'Canes, but if he is genuinely trying to support black college athletics now, more power to him.
Times have changed. I think the only way it'll change back is if we have a power shift. Let's say one of two of the top ten players in the nation decided to attend an HBCU. More probably would follow but with these power 5 schools throwing out money and all, it'll be hard.
If he were really really sincere about that, maybe he should sponsor a megacamp/college fair for South Florida kids to have access to HBCU coaches and HBCUs in general ...
I know churches down there do HBCU tours. Maybe he should link up with those churches and do something bigger.
Please stop perpetuating that lie that Luke help put U of M on the map. Miami won the National Championship in 83 when 2Live Crew wasn’t yet formed! Howard Snellenberger did that....Luke just jumped on the bandwagon!
I’m not here to speculate, I’ll leave that to you guys. But, why didn't he do the same for FAMU?

True, once we start getting them right out of high school then it will change.I still say that will eventually happen soon but it has to be one with the RIGHT mindset or the right situation.
It's sort of happening now although not directly out of high school. NCCU got a 4 star I believe that transferred from Oregon with 4 years of eligibility left last year. These athletes see that you can make it to the league from a HBCU instead of being 4-5th string at a P5 school
As far as Uncle Luke is concerned, I can definitely understand how some people are hesitant to trust him given his history. He played a role in putting The U on the map. Actions are louder than words

Maybe it is indeed a coded message. Maybe he is saying that it is a new day and our more talented kids are indeed interested in attending HBCUs like never before. So it is probably okay to use more resources in going after players that they thought would never consider their school?

Might as well. These Power 5 surely don't mind.Luke should just pay some folks under the table to go to fam.
That's what I am saying. If he serious then cash a few players out to go to FAMUMight as well. These Power 5 surely don't mind.
