PERSONALLY, GRAMBLING HAS A GOOD BAND WITH A GOOD SOUND, BUT ALL THEY HAVE ARE FRENCH HORNS AND BARITONES. YOU COULDN'T EVEN HEAR THEIR TRUMPETS AND SAXOPHONES, ETC.... M4 HAS A GOOD QUALITY LOUD SOUND. YOU COULD HEAR ALL THE INSTRUMENTS. GRAMBLING, CAN YALL MARCH ON THE FIELD?? AT LEAST WE SPELLED OUT STUFF AND MARCHED, ALL YALL DID WAS DANCE IN ONE SPOT. OH YEAH, THE 5TH QUARTER, IM SORRY GRAMBLING, UAPB GOT YALL....M4 IS TIGHT AND TIGHT AND THEY BE BLOWING ALL OVER FOLKS

We never just dance and march in place. We have good quality and sound also. In case you weren't paying attention we spelled out GSU and Tiger.

We got swept off the field by the mascots, also.

Right before we drug their arses up and down the field in the 2nd half!

And I'm STILL mad that the World Famed came answered "The Closer I Get to You" with "Eye of the Tiger."

Okay, Okay, Okay.....most of my friends are in the World Famed Tiger Marching band and in defense of them I have to say that everyone can drill the World Famed about how they think they should sound but until you become part of an organization you don't know the technicalities of it. First of all, during the 5th quarter GSU had to play whatever is called.....they called "Eye of the Tiger," so they played it. Secondly, just because they do not blast when they play doesn't mean they are not playing. True enough UAPB had some sound but they were wrong. I still don't understand why the refs didn't penalize them on several occassions. What some of you don't know is that there are new rules in the SWAC. Technically, a band is not supposed to play unless their team has the ball, and all of you at the game very well know that UAPB played just about the whole game. GSU has a classy band, and they chose not to interrupt UAPB, yet everyone is out to get Grambling. All I ask is that you know what you are talking about before you go putting your thoughts on the net.

Kinda of remind you of that scene in Drumline when Morris Brown was getting down and the other school came back with Flight of the Bumble BEE. See you on October 30th.

Yep you are right, GSU learned their lesson when we were in OHIO, we got a 15 yard penalty for playing when BC had the ball, that penalty almost lost the game for us.

Grambling had a better halftime show.
UAPB had a better song selection in the 5th.

Good seeing Philharmonic & SWAC 31.

Once again I say,....

I have recently discovered that the majority of students in marching bands don't care to hear rap in their private time. I was told they play it to please the crowd.

Question:

Why can't the fifth quarter be used to play music we really want to hear because most of the squares will be gone by then. Why can't we really have a jam session like they did in the jazz era on New York's 52nd street?
I mean play music of theoretical richness demonstrating whatever emphasized technique we want.

I know it sounds a little crazy but,... that's how I feel and I know I'm not alone in my convictions. What I'm looking for is not impossible. There are times I feel that musicians are tired of reaching or perhaps lost their drive.

I'm looking for the next innovator of marching bands,....be it Southernite or Valley. I'm longing for someone to take this thing where it has never been before. I waiting for someone to come from behind this so - called norm and with boldness ,.......show us something totally new.

Does anyone notice a change in the market????

But ya'll are saying that GSU quit playing because they didn't want to get thier team a penatly but ya'll lost anyway?????:eek::eek::eek::eek:

stands PB hands down

FIELD:Slight edge to GSU..both shows were entertaining....pb crowd cheered for their band and gsu crowd cheered for their band..in a nut shell

5th....All PB...eye of the tiger ..400 degrees and jesus walks arent 5th songs...talk about our love..the closer i get to u and love's train crushed..hands down!!

yall just need a book and yall will be straight

i will say as far as btones this year GSU,UAPB's and SU's bringing that dayum smoke!!..GSU's fhorns comin with it..but still got did in by ours..lol

but this is the best GSU band i have heard inna minute...yall actually sound better then TXSU seriously [no smack intended]

imma post klips soon!!

the W goes to PB by a landslide band and football...but GSU aint no pushover

This game was boring in my opinion besides halftime. But here's my opinion:

1st half UAPB hands down (but thats only because Gram didn't play anything but Neck; come on Gram thats pitiful :shame: :shame: )

Halftime: Gram Hands down!!!!!!!!
This was one of the best shows I've seen Gram do!! It was entertaining from start to finish. Playing "Eye of the Tiger" while spelling out TIGER kept the crowd krunk. Then they played Lay ya Body Down which was also nice.

UAPB- what in the He11 did yall do on the field. This was the least entertaining field show I've seen all year. I guess you can tell yall stayed in the bandroom ALL week because no thought was put into a quality show.

2nd Half- A little closer but I'll still give the nod to UAPB. Gram still didn't play much. Message: Hey UAPB, nobody wants to hear you play the ENTIRE game. Who cares how many songs you have? Everytime Gram tried to play, yall played. Everytime Gram scored, yall played!!!! :shame: True band fans do not come to a game to see which band can cover up the other, we come to see and hear the hard work of both bands. All I can say is :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame:

5th I still give the nod to UAPB because of song selection. "The close I get to you" was real nice.  I also liked Gram's "I Don't Want You Back". Thats my jam!! Oh yeah, Gram played Toxic too.

All in all you gotta give the "W" to UAPB cause they played more and had a better book. However, Gram is the more balanced group. Arm Gram with UAPB's book and it'll be a hell of a year.

PS
I'm pleading with all bandmembers, please let the other band play!!! Playing when another band is playing is an ultimate sign of disrespect in my opinion

:retard:
Sounds to me that you are a hater my friend! Just because yall book isn't as big as ours! In my opinon gram had a good band but they still played a lot of songs in the 5th that were not 5th qter material(400 degrees, jesus walks). Yall sounded good, but for you to say that yall sounded better is crazy! Come on now! Lets be foreal! props given when props due, but don't get the bighead cause yall sound a lil bit better than last year! But in a nut shell great job UAPB, and to Grambling keep up the good work! :ebrow:

What the He11 are you talking about!!!!! I don't have any reason to hate, I'm not from either school! I went to NCA&T for ya information. I simply stated my opinion that Gram was more balanced. But since you wanna make somethin of it, I can point out alot of bad things about PB. First of all, I'll admit that 400 Degrees and Jesus Walks are not 5th songs. However, UAPB played at least 3 songs more than once!!!!! Thats a fact. And not only did you play them more than once, but you played them back to back!!!! :shame: :shame: :shame: Thats just plain lame. Also, out of the 500,000 songs yall played, the only ones that stuck with me were the Lil Flip "Game Over", and the ones you played in the 5th. Please don't try to hype UAPB up like they are a power house because they're really nothin special!!!!!!

Oh yeah and this is what I was doing during your halftime show. :read: :read: :read:

Sorry Grambling, we didn't mean any disrespect by playing so much. The refs didn't say anything, so we did what we always do...our team actually gets crunk off our songs and it shows every game.

lol we play songs over and over to get OUR crowd hype and get the momentum in the game. Those are the songs our crowd wants to hear, so we play em. We basically care less about battling with the opposing band during the game. That's what the 5th is for.
And yes, Swac99 you probably COULD pin-point some of our mistakes, but dont act like Grambling was flawless, nigg lol.

But anyway, Grambling overall sounded pretty nice. WAY better then i heard them in the past. Keep up the good work

we aint repeat no songs but gameover at the end cause we scored 2 touchdowns back 2 back so it was gameover...headbussas cause our football team requested it at the end of the game...u are hating batch..we play cause we can to support our team and crowd...u either have went to grumblin or have relatives there..lol cause u bitter

oh yea...regardless if u dont think so the fact remains..UAPB band and football was a powerhouse saturday...so shattap..and gsu's show wasnt spectacular heyal our crowd suprisingly didnt cheer[and they cheer for everybody]...that pretty wille song is old as heyal here so our crowd was like wdf!! dont get me started dawg..my aim was not to smack grambling but i can if u want me too....and soundwise to pb..gsu doesnt compare...but they are still on the come up

ps..the 5th was no match..the only song i give gsu credit on was that lincoln park song other then that.. :shame:

Both band did good during half-time. GSU did sort of drop off late in the 4th, but that was probably due to how the game was unfolding.

Now the 5th was hands down UAPB. Did GSU play "Eye of the Tiger" during half-time? If so, why play it again in the 5th?

Again, nice job by both bands. Winner goes to....

Far far too often people get on the net and bash Grambling nut I'll take the lead and give props to an OUTSTANDING performance GSU did! It was like watching tradition unfold right in front of my eyes! The band is very dicipline, played within their sound element, and executed flaw-lessly during halftime! Dr. Parnell and the rest of the staff are doing a great job! Continue to do the same!!!
