TSU fires four assistant football coaches

there were a few disagreements between the head coach and his staff this season.I just hope that we can continue to keep the good recruiting relationships that we have established so far.Spears knew how to get into folks living rooms and get top quality athletes to 3100 cleburne.the only coaches that were expendable probably were Coach Delong and Coach Mcdaniel. But Spears and Green know what the hell they were talking about.I hope that the cold blooded ego didn't mess the program up!!!

Clearly, there were several other issues going on that people are not aware of. I am guessing that the administration did not have a problem with the release of Spears and others. They may have been the ones to ask the Head Coach to release them of their duties.

Not sure if I agree with this move. I just hope that the firings was done by policy because we do NOT need a scandal or lawsuit.

I'm not sure what Cole's job description states but I wonder if he's allow to fire without consulting the AD and HR for that matter.

That's my question also Melvin H....

Damn the man cannot get rid of someone on his staff.... I'm just wondering how this will play out over time.... Hell if I don't want you around and admin says I gotta keep you... WHAT MESSAGE DOES THAT SEND OUT!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

WOW

Dooley turned down a shot at being OC at PV in 2004.....I guess now he better make his way to Houston

But they got the assistant strength coach...damn...:emlaugh:

Yeah Dooley also turned down the SLU job. He would be a good hire for sTu he's loyal and a hell of a recruiter. He should have been SU's OC.

Texas Southern football coach Johnnie Cole has fired four members of his staff, a person familiar with the situation said Monday.

Defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Kevin Ramsey, running backs coach Melvin Spears, linebackers coach Archie McDaniel and special teams coordinator/defensive ends coach Gregory Green were relieved of their duties.

Cole declined to comment when reached Monday night.

TSU won five of its last six games to finish 6-5, largely as a result of its defense. The Tigers were ranked 21st out of 118 FCS programs in total defense (295.45 yards per game) and 20th in pass defense (169.27 yards per game).

I wouldn't bet anything if I were you. They're purported to return 20 of 22 current starters. If you know football, that spells doom and gloom for adversaries if the currents did well. I'd say they held their own by coming in @ #2 in the SWAC West tied w/ Grambling this fall. Wouldn't you agree?
