We know it isn't a female, because Negan said "he took it like a champ!" so we know that rules out a female, plus I agree with the idea that AMC wouldn't kill a woman like that.
I don't think it's Rick, he is the "main character" of the story. No Rick, no leader, no story at least not at not yet.. And Negan told the Survivors that if someone moved to cut Carl's other eye out and feed it to Rick.
I don't think it's Carl, again too pivotal to the story line. and I agree with the whole Negan has a sort of respect for Carl. Also like someone said he told them to cut Carl's other eye out and feed it to his father.
I don't think it's Abraham, otherwise he would have taken him up on his offer when he first stood up, plus I think the writers wanted to throw us off with the Sasha foreshadowing.
I don't think it's Glenn, only because Negan had an opportunity to take out Glenn when he went to help Maggie. ( I might be wrong if they are trying to get back to the comics in some fashion.)
I don't think it's Daryl, because Daryl has some pay back to give to one of the Survivors.
I don't think it's Eugene, because when they were saying good bye the group expected him to get captured/killed while he lead the Survivors away and I think Eugene giving Rick the formula for making bullets was used to throw us off.
That leaves some one who is not a main character and I don't think is really pivotal to the overall story line and would not be a significant loss to the group and that is...Aaron. Rick didn't want him to go initially and Aaron told Rick he'd have to punch him to keep him from going. So no foreshadowing, which makes it a great way to throw others off the scent.

I don't think it has to be a "big" main character to be devastating to the fans.

The gay community would be mad though. They already were upset that they killed Denise, breaking up her relationship with Tara( remember her? lol). I can only imagine their fury if another gay character got brutally murdered.

I remember all that craziness. It was stupid if you ask me. You didn't see us getting upset and crazy when Tyreese was killed.
They need to have a seat, at least they didn't have to go through hundreds of movies where the first character to die was usually the Black character.

Ah...the logic of it being Aaron is definitely interesting.

Side: It's also going to be interesting to see the role, if any, of Jesus and the Hilltoppers in the upcoming season. That's in addition to the group that has Carol and Morgan.

One other thing about Negan. In the comics he didn't have a goatee and he was more burly. In the comics you really hated him, : Jeffrey Dean Morgan,
seems ok so far, but to me he doesn't really convey that fear like the Governor did.
