The Two Best Places to Watch a College Football Game

TP, don't say he messed up the paperwork. Maybe the attendance figures were off by 20,000 and your band budget came up short.

The OLD UAPB GOLDEN LION STADIUM.

That was the only place that had 1600 seats, but would pack 30K people in there.

You and your school should be the LAST people talkin about a budget.

AAMU always pay its bills. We got some folks that believe they can save a dollar or two, and don't know that we are not a saving institution. You see if they think they are saving on athletics, the money is spent on something else. Money is allocated to be spent. Keep it real.

You say that like everyone knows what you're talking about. :emlaugh: You could as well told JayRob that in Spanish. :emlaugh:

Which year are you talking about:

In 2003 and our average home attendance was 22,600. Also, the year that we did not go to Greensboro was Hughes last year (2002). We had not had a home game yet. We had only play the University of Southern Mississippi. That year (the year before Bell) we only averaged 16,400. So since we have one of the highest averages year in and year out, how did we fall short on budget. If we did and we are central to everyone...you certainly won't be able to travel anywhere. We simply chose not to go to AAMU.

Yeah, right!

Dude, if we averaged 22K that year, why would we have had a budget shortfall. Also, the band budget is NOT a part of the athletic budget anyway. The band has it's own budget that is approved before the season. We came to Hicksville with a 2-8 record and 11 starters (including Kent) injured. We just wanted to get that season over with.

TP, I KNOW he ain't tryin to talk about attendance either. I can't recall the last time or IF EVER aamu averaged more than 20,000 fans in ANY season in the history of the school.:smh: :read:

LOL, but some people don't understand budgets. I would spend my whole budget in the first quarter with result. Then I would justify spending the money that other departments thought they were saving. :)

The BOOM did NOT go to TxSo this year though because there was no where for us to sit. JSU fans came to take over.

MH, they played that game on TxSU's campus stadium so TP is right.........there was no where to sit for the Boom. Hell if TSU schedules SU to play at their campus, I am afraid the Jukebox who goes everywhere is not going to be able to go either. I don't if you have seen their stadium. But it is small. The vistors side is very small. Picture a JR High Stadium. It is not as nice as the HS stadium that SU played PV in.

ummm JR,
The part I was questioning was the "Jsu folks came to take over". Attendance-4687.

LOL. They might have. Since the stadium only holds 5,000. I am assuming that the JSU fans showed up. They usually travel pretty decent to Houston. When I lived there, the JSU fans came down to that game usually. I even entertained GR and Robber one time and took them on their first trip to PV. LOL.

....plus JSU has an above average number of alumni in the Houston area.

That is why I told Dr. Mason that reason was not a good excuse. They would have made room for the Band. There were even people from other schools in the SWAC who live in Houston who went that game JUST to get a glimpse of the BOOM!! There should never be a question of whether the BOOM will be in the house.

JROCK, we have folks who took accounting at some of the PWC that are audting our books. They don't know how to strecthing dollars or move money around to make things work. Some of the suff I have been reading that is going on our universities are ways to make end meet and keeping up with other colleges. Just think how Mama ironed shirts or picked cotton to send us to schools on $3.00 dollars a week. How did she do it? If you didn't learn how to move money with a purpose, you will not make it.

You mean that is why you told Dr. Mason's secretary's secretary?
