The Patriots should be banned from the Super Bowl

The difference is the type of manipulation involved. The NFL allows QBs to massage the balls and get them how they want. Some QBs was the balls to be scuffed, some want them smooth, but the pressure has to remain within the allowable limits.

I know for my son's football team (9u) I deflate the balls a little to make it easier for the Center, QB and WR to handle them also, but my league doesn't have a specific rule about air pressure as long as the ball isn't blatantly flat.

It didn't change the game at all. Lol. Just because it's the Patriots and their history it makes it bad pub for the NFL. The Colts had no chance in that game even with properly inflated balls.

But what he did wasn't illegal either. The NFL allows QBs to manipulate the balls to their liking, as long as the balls are inflated properly.
 
.....sigh.....smh...big balls, little balls, it doesn't matter to me...with the way they played, the Colts still would have lost...all this is irrelevant to me. If the Patriots did something wrong, I say fine them and move on....
 
The precedent has been set in Bounty Gate. The buck stops with Belicheat. 8-16 game suspension.


The last thing the NFL needs is one of their premier franchises having this overshadow their spotlight event

Can one assume that the Patriots had the balls inflated... or since they are KNOWN cheaters, could they have been set up? :lol:
 
Somebody did it. 11 of 12 then the Refs fixed them and 5 more came up low after the game....SMH The Colts got mauled but why do it...SMH
 
In the Super Bowl, we're gonna have one team who led the the NFL in PED suspensions from 2010 to 2013 against another team who deflates footballs. Gotta love sports.
 
Belichick is pretty much blaming Tom Brady, but the quarterback's coach will take the fall. Just watch.

Belichick: Pats cooperating with NFL

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Thursday he was "shocked" when he was informed of the allegations that his team used balls that were deflated after they were inspected by officials before the game.

Belichick's news conference was devoted completely to the controversy. He said the Patriots are fully cooperating with the NFL's investigation and was "totally unaware" of the controversy until Monday morning.

"I was shocked to learn of the footballs on Monday. I had no knowledge until Monday morning," he said.

The NFL found that 11 of the Patriots' 12 game balls were inflated significantly below the NFL's requirements, league sources involved and familiar with the investigation of Sunday's AFC Championship Game told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

He said the footballs he uses at practice are as bad as possible to prepare his players for any playing condition. The condition of the football is not an excuse.

"In my entire coaching career, I have never talked to any player or staff member about football air pressure," he said.
