You are right Beans, I aint going to see yall........and neither will the Super Bowl. Just hope Mike Vick don't come down there and set that place on fire when yall play them this year in the ATL. LOL

Jr just worry bout ur Steelers.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- I just finished a news conference with Carolina coach Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney, walked out and got hit with the news the Atlanta Falcons had traded up to grab wide receiver Julio Jones at No. 6.

Wow, that’s a leap. In fact, it’s such a big leap that further analysis on new Carolina quarterback Cam Newton can wait a bit.

My first reaction as a reporter was to say to myself, “What does Roddy White think?’’, so I turned to White’s verified Twitter account.

His first reaction: “Well we got Julio Jones. I’m excited.’’

Apparently, White then saw the same details on the trade that I saw. The Falcons gave up their first-round pick (No. 27) this year as well as their second- and fourth-round picks in this draft. They also gave up their first- and fourth-round picks in 2012 to move up to No. 6 to grab Jones.

“Well, I was wrong,’’ White tweeted exactly a minute later. “We give up our draft.’’

White’s pretty much right....

I think you two bird fans are missing the point. They aren't going to have that many picks in the draft next year or maybe even the year after. That defense need all the help they can get.

Their own players don't agree with the deal, and you have folks on here trying to justify the move. LOL

Phreeze here is the point. Our offense was Ryan, White, Gonzales, and sometime Turner when he wanted to run. Snelling was good backing Turner but thats it. Our defense can be addressed through FA. We needed more weapons to help Matt and White. Gonzales is on his way out, but we have a decent young TE backing him already. We will be fine with this pick.

I don't have to worry about them Beans. Because they know how to draft. All their picks from last year contributed during the season. I expect nothing but the same Steeler consistency I have grown accustomed to. You know when you have 6 SB wins and 8 SB appearances and multiple Division titles and playoff runs you get used to it.

Phreeze,
Do you think that all these draft picks pan out, especially the lower round picks? Or make significant contributions.

Getting those picks allow youth on the depth chart in which that defense in Atlanta needs. Especially that front 7. Abraham can't do it all by himself. Only one player in that secondary impress me.

sorry but at the end of the day, the FALCONS' season won't be broken based on not getting the 27th pick, 59th pick, and 124th pick. Don't know why people are trying to act as if these picks are sooooooo important and would've made such an impact, and at the same discount what Jones brings to this offense.

Phreeze seriously, check our roster. That was our problem last year. YOUTH on the defensive side. We have a lot of youth on that side already. We need veterans.

If y'all happy with it, then cool.

I have been watching for 20 minutes and I have saw a SU and a Gram great. Aeneas Williams and Doug Williams  both represented their franchises .

I agree. The front office is telling the fans that they can win it all now. Look at New Orleans and Tampa Bay in the division. The Bucs won 10 games and missed the playoffs last season. The Falcons will have to make bold moves in order to beat both teams.

The Vikings continue their dumb moves. They should have taken a corner, Defensive lineman, or traded down to get picks back they lost from the stupid Randy Moss move. LOL. Poor Leslie Frazier. If they don't do nothing this year. I expect Adrian Peterson to want out when his contract comes up.

They had to take a QB then because they have no extra late picks because of the Moss trade. That's why they needed to trade down in the worse way and didn't do it. Just stupid management. Ponder wasn't all that at Florida State. Oh well they just set themselves back behind Green Bay and Chicago even farther. Detroit might have passed them up now for

real.[/QUOT

Vikings tried to trade down but they didn't have no offers.they tried to trade up and get gabbert. No luck. Next pick wasn't till 43.ponder was the highest rated QB on their board. But time Vikings pick in 2nd rd.the QB would of been gone.so Vikings had to reach for a pitch and swing

I'm STILL really excited about our picks and for those of you who think we mortgaged the house for the #6 pick, then think again.

On whether he thinks the Falcons can get additional picks in 2012 once players are able to be traded again:
TD (Thomas Dimitroff) : “No question about it. That was a real challenge this year, to not have the opportunity to talk players. Obviously, it led itself to appearing to be that much more at stake when we made the deal with four picks. Four picks, I want to make sure that’s clear. Not five as it was advertised. This was an exchange of ones, obviously. It’s something that we took into consideration and understood that since we didn’t have players to deal with we were going to have to be very dialed in on draft pick compensation.”
