The NFL Draft...my team needs this player

In a draft that is not strong with quarterbacks (in terms of NFL readiness), it probably was the right decision to pass on one the first time around. The Vikings got desperate and took Christian Ponder for crying out loud. Andy Dalton is out there so is the kid from Nevada, and Ryan Mallett and Ricky Stanzi as well.

The Vikings continue their dumb moves. They should have taken a corner, Defensive lineman, or traded down to get picks back they lost from the stupid Randy Moss move. LOL. Poor Leslie Frazier. If they don't do nothing this year. I expect Adrian Peterson to want out when his contract comes up.

They had to take a QB then because they have no extra late picks because of the Moss trade. That's why they needed to trade down in the worse way and didn't do it. Just stupid management. Ponder wasn't all that at Florida State. Oh well they just set themselves back behind Green Bay and Chicago even farther. Detroit might have passed them up now for real.

The Birds gave up too much for him and he drops too many balls for me. AJ Green is a beast.
I laughed at those comments from last night. They must have been made based on the combine, workouts and stuff AFTER the season, cause Jones was a big time playmaker when the lights came on and I don't recall him having a problem dropping the ball. (but then again, if king Mel Kiper said it, it must be true. ) I like Green, but he used to disappear a lot.

As for staying pat and drafting a TE to groom, :smh:

shhh dont tell mighty hornet that, lol. ohh and good pick up for the phins to pick up the other pouncey twin. god has blessed that family.

I just don't believe in giving up value picks later on to build your squad with quality throughout. That's why teams like my Steelers, the Patriots, the Eagles, Giants and a few others always do well with lower picks. Unless you are getting a total game changer it aint worth it. They have Roddy White. They could have gotten a decent WR later to push Jenkins for the number 2 spot in the later rounds. With the way the NFL throws the ball, you need all the defensive help you can get. Many DBs and great pass rushers. Their offense aint a problem. The Falcons defense can't consistently stop anybody. Jones is good player just aint worth those many picks. Bill B at NE would have never pulled a deal like that and I hate them mofos. But you got to give it to them. They know how to draft.

Folks kill me hyping up these rookies like they're guaranteed to actually be good in the league. Just like all the Panthers fans that think they're headed to the promise land now because they got Cam Newton. We thought the same thing last year when we got Dez White. I dont get hype over rookies until they actually do something on the field.

I understand, too many damn voids to fill, such as quarterback and the whole offensive line. But your owner is a genius.

A good TE is a QB's best friend. There are a couple of them in the draft. Also I thought the same thing before anyone said Jones dropped too many balls. I saw him play all year. I like the kid. But it wasn't a Falcon need. Your TE is at the end of his rope. He still plays well, but getting a young one to help would not be a bad idea. Peyton Manning loves having multiple ones and you see how Tom Brady has gotten those 2 young ones he got last year to play in NE. Just think the Falcons paid too much for Jones. He better turn out to be a HOF or perennial Pro Bowler at that pick level.

ummm, no comment.
:scared:

So what was wrong with the Falcons offense last season? You got playmakers. You got 2 good RBs, a HOF TE, a pro Bowl WR and a Pro Bowl QB. Maybe your playcalling wasn't great. But the Falcons allowed Green Bay to put a ton of points on that defense. That defense scares no one. But the offense does have playmakers. Jones will help the offense no doubt. But your defense is still suspect right now. Too light on the DL too.

I agree. That was probably the most questionable move of the first round. A round of many questionable moves. Most of America was probably like ... "what?"

agrees. i was hurt when shockey decided to go to Carolina but the saints got a steal in jimmy graham at tight end. younger, cheaper, and more athletic.

sorry JR,
I stopped reading right there. :scared:

Don't let the flop against the Packers blind you into thinking the Falcons offense was great during the year.

The way the draft played out, if the FALCONS had stayed pat, I would've preferred Mark Ingram to replace that sorry, overrated lard arse Turner.

LMAO@ the Falcons having "2 good RBs". (Snelling is good though. )

unknown,
I agree.

carry on...

You are right.. I can see 4 million for Bush.. with the Saints running back system.. there really isnt a true starter..

I agree they don’t have a true starter, but it’s not because of the system. The Saints don’t have a true every down back. The Saints have not had anybody like that since Deuce McAllister. I don’t like to say what a player is going to do when they have not played a down of football in the NFL. But if Ingram is what all the scouts say he is, a run between the tackles type of runner and good at catching passes out of the backfield like McAllister. The Saints offense will really be unstoppable. Deuce had a great year in 2006 the first year Payton came to the Saints. That team went to the NFC championship game. But there is no use getting to far ahead about this now. They have to be able to sign Ingram and he has to pan out, another reason Bush or anybody else may not be going anywhere to soon.

So Roddy White, and your RBs are not good now? C'mon MH. And if you say they are not, then yall needed more than Julio Jones because he can't be the only playmaker you got. They should have been stockpiling picks to take several playmakers on offense. Oh well, I aint a Falcons fan. So if you like what they did, then so be it. If my Steelers made that kind of trade I would be pissed. Of course that aint how they operate. Probably a reason why they have 6 rings and been to 8 SBs. Draft smartly and coach them up in your schemes.

ummm JR,
I didnt mention anything specific about Roddy White. I like his game. I don't like Turner though. (that aint no secret, cause I've posted that on here before). And trust me, I've seen enough FALCONS games to know that offense needs a jump start. SEVERAL games it got bogged down. (and I'm not swayed bout getting torched by the Packers, cause the way Rodgers was playing, just about anybody would've gotten torched) The braintrust made a move to get a playmaker. I like the move. I guess if Kiper said it's a good move, yall might co-sign it then.

I have to say I don’t understand how you can call Turner overrated. He had 1,371 yards with a 4.1 per average carrying the ball last year. I know yawl are paying him good, but are you expecting 2,000 yards every year?

MH is never wrong.

Honestly, I didn't get this pick either as a Falcon fan until I started thinking about it. Now I'm as excited as Montana Fishburn on her first porn movie. Why you ask? Cause now you can't stack the box to stop Michael Turner and you can't double White. Jenkins will be cut or traded and Douglas will move to that solid 3rd position at WR. This pick was Awesome.

I think picking up this player is a good acquisition for Falcons on the surface. But giving up multiple draft picks for an unproven college kid is sure risky, though. History has shown normally those types of transactions don't workout in the end.

Nah man, this is JR talking. I don't like Kiper or none of those so called draft experts. I could do their damn job better than they do it. LOL. Kiper has pimped the system by being the first one to talk draft stuff. But he aint no expert and do not value his opinion.

I like the Falcons talent on offense before Jones got drafted. Turner, Norwood, Snelling are a nice trio if they can all stay healthy. I think some of the bogged down issues with Atlanta was the playcalling. But again, I have no issue with yall drafting Jones. Just don't like how many picks it took to move up whether they were low firsts and later round picks or not. It was just too many picks. Especially since you think yall need to change RBs, then I would have drafted Ingram and used the other picks to pick up more playmakers later. Then you got free agents out there too. Just wouldn't have been my strategy. You look for that Mike Wallace type guy in the second round or they could have taken the kid that KC took from Pittsburgh who I think can play. Has tremendous hands and can go get the ball at 6'4.

Well none of us know what any of these picks will do until they hit the field. Sounds familiar? Kinda like what we do with our college teams with the signing period. I trust THIS front office for the first time in years. They know our needs and if they said that they will address it with free agency then that is what I will go with.

Yeah, Ricky Williams:emlaugh:

Send Jenkins to Pittsburgh. I know he has underachieved in Atlanta. But he will be the tall guy Big Ben wants. LOL.

Hell you all can have that joker. And you know I'm an Ohio guy so I wanted him to kill folks. He truly disappointed me. Always hurt, dropping passes, cutting off his routes, etc.... Just sorry.
