It's a damn shame, I have not saw one black church with a Health-and-Wellness program. But, guess, who have these programs? All the health ailments affecting black christians. But, I have not saw one black church start this program in Montgomery.

I'm going to be honest. A lot of our churches are to taboo. Just imagine, if they decided to have health ministries to help its members. Man, the lives, we could actually save.

Those generations are not fed because churches never restructured over the years. Most mainline ministers, deacon boards (or equivalent), etc are all older and out of touch, allergic to new ideas and refuse to see change as anything but the spiritual adversary.

This is why those generations have fled to non denominational, mixed race churches. And out of touch baby boomers keep banging the same old drum, pastors dragging one church service past 1pm... its ridiculous how our people refuse to acknowledge our faults
 
As with almost any thing in the Black community, things have started to change, but it is a slow struggle. Small rural churches have starting fasting, building on and turning parts of the children into gyms, having aerobic classes, and doing weight loss challenges. They still ain't coming off that pork though.

Anytime you get Black people together there is power there. But our minds have been so distorted that we don't know how to properly access that power. Those youngsters who go to the different churches are in search of the power, know it's out there, but are misguided (the story of Black youth in America ).
 
The Black Church (like Black greek letter Organizations ) punch well below their weight when it comes to impacting the communities they purport to serve. Southwest Dallas is Black Mega Church central. Imagine if all of those churches invested in the community around them

Brother, it's like that all over the south. I have seen fools committing every sin under the sun. But, the only thing, they care about now is filling the seats. Brother, if your have a good mouthpiece, anybody will let be a preacher in the black community.

Tell me about it. I am odds with my church on the leaderships fiscal responsibility.

How does a church cater to millenials? I'm not asking you to defend your statement, but instead I would like to hear a few examples of what is taking place.

I will start with my church. Alfred Street Baptist Church. Which an old black upper middleclass church in VA.

They started a CAYA (Come As You Are) ministry that meets once a month and has a meet and greet and worship service. It is much less formal and a conversation with different speakers about the realities of trying to live according to christian principles in this new age. It has been a big hit. They have their own happy hours, retreats and balls now.

They put a lot of work into the young adults and singles ministry and have a lot of programming focused on those two groups. Our church is packed out with millenials. As an older married millenial, some of it gets on my nerves so I can imagine what the older church members feel but so far the pastor has been able to manage this balancing act.

Health and wellness programs in churches??!! Where the heck is your faith?
Isn't that what your bible teaches and isn't that what the jesus character teaches?
Why do folks need nurses and doctors when the one they worship is supposed to be the great healer? Oh ye of little faith.
Come on man!! LOL!!
