I'll probably catch some flack from my fellow G-Men. In fact, I'm sure of it... but sometimes some things are worth taking a little ribbing or condemnation.

I'm a baseball guy...it has always been the sport that I loved and loved to play. But if you've ever had a chance to coach the sport and teach the game to young folk, you will understand the importance of teaching patience, hard work, and character. It's an awesome sport and yet it can be humbling as one must learn to deal with temporary failure in your effort to obtain long term success.

Coach Roger Cador is a baseball guy... I've known him as a casual acquaintance for numerous years and I have watched how he works to promote the game of baseball in general and Southern University in particular. The latter I respect him for, but it is the former that I admire him for. The promotion of SU baseball is his profession, but sharing his love of the game is his passion. It is good for the game, good for his school, and good for our conference.

With his recent health concerns, I don't know what the future holds for him in terms of coaching. Personally, I wish him best of health so that he can return to the dugout at his alma mater and continue to do that which he's not only very good at but also very passionate about. He has been a great ambassador to his program and also to the sport. I would like to see more of our coaches, regardless of sport, follow his blueprint of success in terms of marketing his program and promoting their sport. A master fundraiser who is both engaging yet understated in his personal dealing with the common guy.

Hope you get well soon coach... our league needs more like you.

MikeBigg,

Do you know something we don't know? Thought Cador got a clean bill of health.

Nothing... but was thinking of how much he has done for the game of baseball within our conference and wanted to give him his props. For all I know his health is good...but what if he decides to move from coaching into administration or just retire completely (doubtful)? Just giving him his props!

Props to Coach Cador......For all he has done for the game, conference and continuing the legacy of Southern University Baseball.........

The other programs should look at his blueprint and incorporate it into their process. He's good with alums (local and national), has established "connection" with pro scouts (who can recommend a kid who is not yet ready to be drafted), promotes the sport and his program on local talk shows, gets good effort/result from his team.

Cador, great coach. Now, back to the celebration. GSU your 2010 SWAC BASEBALL CHAMPIONS.:D

No doubt...I'm elated. If you check out Cador's FB (professional one) status, he wasted no time congratulating GSU and has posted some articles about our winning. Apparently, he recognizes and appreciates good baseball...

Mos def. I was telling a friend of mine today if SU couldn't win it I'm pulling for the G-men.

Cador's blueprint unfortunately does not work anymore in terms of coaches who wanted to follow it now...the days of having a team 2-deep full of legitimate black baseball talent is over but he has adjusted well to today's game....

2004 was his last team that will feature tons of MLB talent...PV 2007 was probably the last team to be 2-deep in talent as they had draft picks riding the bench...

I was speaking mostly in terms of how he promotes his program and his fundraising successes.
