Exclusive: Mar-a-Lago pool flood raises suspicions among prosecutors in Trump classified documents case

An employee at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence drained the resort’s swimming pool last October and ended up flooding a room where computer servers containing surveillance video logs were kept, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

While it’s unclear if the room was intentionally flooded or if it happened by mistake, the incident occurred amid a series of events that federal prosecutors found suspicious.

At least one witness has been asked by prosecutors about the flooded server room as part of the federal investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents, according to one of the sources.

The incident, which has not been previously reported, came roughly two months after the FBI retrieved hundreds of classified documents from the Florida residence and as prosecutors obtained surveillance footage to track how White House records were moved around the resort. Prosecutors have been examining any effort to obstruct the Justice Department’s investigation after Trump received a subpoena in May 2022 for classified documents.

Prosecutors have heard testimony that the IT equipment in the room was not damaged in the flood, according to one source.

Trump Extremists Demand Civil War, Mass Murder After New Indictment

Extreme supporters of Donald Trump have met news of his federal indictment with visions of violence and retribution.

At The Donald, a forum for ultra-MAGA Trump supporters, users demanded public executions and other forms of lynching to avenge the federal prosecution of Trump, for the alleged mishandling of state secrets at Mar a Lago after he was no longer president.

The calls for violence appeared in comment threads, responding to posts on the front page of the forum Thursday night, after news broke of Trump’s latest legal troubles. The most extreme comments were written in response to a fanciful post insisting “the only solution” to DOJ’s efforts to lock up Trump would be to vote him back into the presidency, so Trump could “pardon himself and begin arresting those guilty of insurrection and sedition.”

A user named “Belac186” offered a far deadlier fix: “The only way this country ever becomes anything like the Constitution says this country should be is if thousands of traitorous rats are publicly executed.” Commenter “DogFaceKilla” quickly chimed in to offer supplies: “I got some rope somewhere in the garage…” And “Heavy_Metal_Patriot” added: “Hans says we can borrow the flammenwerfer” — a reference to a battlefield flame thrower used to by German soldiers in World War II.

The judge assigned to oversee Trump's criminal case was appointed by Trump himself

https://www.npr.org/2023/06/09/1181310860/aileen-cannon-trump-indictment 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has been assigned, at least for now, to oversee the case stemming from Donald Trump's indictment, a source confirmed to NPR on Friday.

Trump appointed Cannon to the bench in 2020, and she is the same judge who ruled in favor of Trump's request to appoint a special master to review documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago last summer, a move that temporarily stopped federal prosecutors from continuing their investigation into the documents.

The ruling sparked pushback from the Justice Department, which argued that the appointment would "significantly harm important governmental interests, including national security interests."

Cannon also ruled to unseal a list of items the FBI seized from their search of Trump's home. If Trump is convicted and Cannon remains on the case, she would be responsible for determining the sentence, including any prison time.

Trump’s indictment plus candidacy could endanger democracy and the rule of law

The collision of former president Donald Trump’s criminal indictment with the presidential campaign could further undermine confidence in democratic principles and institutions of government, experts say.

America’s institutions have been attacked repeatedly over the past half-dozen years, thanks principally to the conduct and actions of Donald Trump. The next 18 months could further undermine confidence in democracy and the rule of law as the former president seeks a return to the White House while defending himself against federal and state criminal charges.

Not since the Vietnam War in the 1960s or perhaps the mid-19th century before the Civil War has the country’s governing structure faced such disunity and peril, given the unprecedented nature of a federal criminal indictment of a former president compounded by the fact that Trump has been charged by the Justice Department in the administration of the Democrat who defeated him in 2020 and who is his likeliest general election opponent in 2024, if Trump is nominated again by the Republican Party.

Trump will be president in 2024. Think folks will have to accept it.

Biden has been so bad it's ridiculous. All he had to do was keep ONE campaign promise (student loan forgiveness, M4A, minimum wage increase, multiple stimulus checks, etc)

Not only did he NOT keep one, he threw the US into a proxy war which caused inflation to run wild making people struggle even more after coming out of COVID. He's as good as toast next year

Its possible he will win.

Biden is really good.

Proxy war - 😁😁😁

Is she doing this so she can control the trial?

In a baffling turn of events, the Donald Trump-appointed federal judge overseeing his Mar-a-Lago classified documents debacle appears to have placed the case on warp speed—setting a trial just two months away.

On Monday morning, federal court records showed that U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon created what's referred to as a “rocket docket” to speed his trial through the system.

Cannon issued an order stating that the most historic criminal trial in American history will commence Aug. 14. That’s just 55 days away, while most federal trials take up to a year or more as both sides prepare for an epic showdown in court.

If the trial started a year from now, we'd be in primary season getting ready for the general election.
Speeding up the trial avoids that scenario.
Republicans don't want a Hillary Clinton scenario on their hands. (Remember when Muller basically tanked Hillary's chances)

You folks kill me with this proxy war stuff. Do you folks not understand the history of America and how the world operates? Stimulus checks? It was those free checks that caused inflation in the first place. Congress blocked the student loans because sorry my vote don't count people allowed the racist Tucker Carlton republicans to take the house.

You do realize Biden can sign an executive order on student loans, right?
