I look at schools like Maine and Eastern Washington. They are in the middle of nowhere. But, they win on a consistent basis. It's 2018, we have to stop making excuses to not be successful.
Their mindset is very intriguing, but not impressive. Want to impress? Instantly verbally commit, follow through and sign on the dotted line, enter, compete to the highest level academically and athletically, and leave your positive mark on the legacy you helped contribute to. Period. Any other actions or words are simply disposable rhetoric.
It’s inexcusable to make excuses.
Coaches need to deliver on attracting and securing the HIGHEST caliber of STUDENT-athlete possible, regardless of ethnicity. Period. If that is done, everything else will fall in place positively.

EWU is in the Spokane metro area with the enrollment of 13,000 and Maine is the only D1 school in the entire state.
I know for a FACT that some HBCU coaches will ask kids to publicly mention their programs as a possible destination (even if they know the kid isn't going to sign with them) for the sole purpose of getting potential national exposure. So to some degree, those kids are doing HBCUs a favor.
Doug Williams did this all the time while he was at Grambling.

They also recruit white players. Why y’all don’t see that. They get that next level white boy as well the next level brother that don’t get recruited by the Major schools . All we do is recruit the brothers and the others for kickers. Have we ever tried to get a 2 star white boy? In all positions.

What about Jacksonville State? Alabama State beat them in 2007, and almost in 2013. The SWAC and OVC probably have the same amount of talent. But, the only difference are the level of programs. Look, if some our schools can't maintain FCS standing, we just need to drop down.

Antonio Brown and many others were not highly recruited. Tyreke Hill, etc . How do dumb as recruiters miss a mofo running a 4.3? TJ Watt was barely a 3 star recruit. So again, you saying a HBCU should not want a 2 Star kid? Who you think going to ND State? Was Wentz a big time recruit?

Okay. But, didn't Jacksonville State lose to North Carolina A&T at the beginning of this year? So, what is the excuse for the other schools? Do you know which school that Reggie Barlow won his first game against? Jacksonville State.
Also, if we make excuses for lack of success or etc... What kid would want to sign with us???

No. We have the talent. But, we worry so much about having P-5 talent. We forget about the talent on our respective team.

You shouldlook at the Gulf South Conference. They are relentless on using transfers. If they went on just high school talent. They wouldn't have the same success

those players will listen but getting them to pull the trigger is hard. When the local FCS Southland, etc. comes in late they'll gravitate towards that for obvious reasons. The next level brother (in some areas) is just as hard to recruit cause some of their thinking is twisted. I had to laugh hard the other day when I saw a guy who I've known since middle school and eventually went to UT show up at a Alcorn game. He then mentioned his dad went to Alcorn and was from Port Gibson - never knew that.
We have HBCU grads and administrators with direct access to some of these athletes but our own grads get caught up in the hype. If they would just say something publicly that could change some mindsets but some act like their afraid. and if a father is not involved its easy to convince the mothers as their outlooks are way different.
