For decades in the South, things were never "separat, but equal". Tax dollars from our parents and grandparents were taken and State U received the lions share of appropriations. In 1970, USC beat Alabama, and the rest is history. State U integrated because football is a hugh business. Disparities that exists between HBCUs and State U is rooted in racism. That gap will never be closed. Yet, I resent the put down of HBCUs by parents and athletes who fail to consider the true value of an education. Even our daughters are exploited to make "Tyrone" feel comfortable at State U. An HBCU provided a Home for me and others like me. I refuse to debate disparities and inequalities between My Home and State U of the south.
