I remember my junior year of college we played Alcorn State. We won the game. So our coaches have us gather into short left field for our post-game meeting. All of a sudden one of our guys sees our trainer in a scuffle with a couple of the opposing players in the visitors dugout.
ALL of us sprint from left field to the visitors dugout to confront those guys on the other team.
I mean, all heck is breaking loose. Punches were thrown, objects were used, there was kicking...the whole nine yards. The whole time our coach is screaming at us to not get involved.
NONE of us listened to him. We saw someone on our side in dire straights and proceeded to aid him.
A coach can preach discipline all he wants all day. However, once something happens, nine times out of 10, the athletes on the field will react based on instinct.
There was another case where we got into it with Grambling State. I'm on the bench and two seconds later I'm running on the field with the rest of my teammates right in the middle of everything.
I think athletes get involved in these fights or whatever to stick up for themselves and their teammates for the most part. Sure, it might be stupid, but few actually consider the consequences in the heat of the moment when the situation is developing so quickly.
Kendrick you know yo ass aint run over there LOL
