SWAC Releases 2004 All-SWAC Football Team

I don't know how they pick people, but I would think that the top 4 leading rushers in the SWAC would make up the 1st and 2nd team ALL-SWAC.

For the SWAC to select 6 RBs (whats with this RB and FB designation :smh: ) and not have Robt Randolph among them is horrendous. He "only" has the 3rd highest rushing total in the SWAC, with 2 games left.
:smh: :smh:

What about yards per carry?

How does the SWAC leader in tackles NOT get named Defensive Player of the Year????

LB - Joseph Scott- Jackson State - 6-2, 230, Sr., Hattiesburg, MS

:smh:

Sadness.....
Naw Madness.....
Cletis Gordon made second team??? He should have made first team!!
Oh he did as a PR.......whoops :o
That kid is all world!!

You shole is right Mach. Ain't no way Donald Carrie should have been voted over Jackson.

it is an "adult" version of your high school's superlative awards: a small clique of SID's that arent interested in recognizing athletic excellence as much as padding individual r?sum

Mach, Ricks was a 5-6 POTW, you had to have known he was going to get POTY on offense.

The voting is phugged up though, I can't understand how SU's Kevin Moffet made 2nd team, and he wasn't even a starter after the Alabama State game. Had he been a special teams selection, maybe. Not at DB. :(

NICE

Why are all of you stat quoters so upset? Stas are important, but they should not always be the deciding factors when choosing all conference teams. Hell Reggie Bush will be on many all amrcan list, but his stas don't campoare to many other back, but you would be hard pressed to find someone that says he is not one of the best in college football.

The SWAC is no different. Stats don't tell the entire story of the game, and they shouldn't dictate what happens with all swac selections. Besides, the voting was overhauled after last years debacle, there are no gross oversights as there sometimes are. They players who made all SWAC are deserving of the honors, with few exceptions.

Hell I dont see how Landers made Freshman of the Year.... he threw 15 INTS... (didnt think NOBODY could throw more INTS than Johnny Keith)
Chris Traylor ... freshman D lineman from AAMU led the conference in sacks.

TRUE!

I beleive that Lunda Wells should have made 1st or 2nd team OL. I was suprised the Moffet made 2nd team DB also.

M,

POY was an easy choice. I hope you are not basing the award on the game against Gram. Ricks had a tremendous season. The BC was probably his worse game of the year.

hell...TSU nominated 15 people for the All-SWAC team....and they went winless!! those fools nominated three running backs...

that SS isn't worth All-SWAC honors....I swore they had the worst team in the SWAC...

coaches, SIDs and "selected" media vote..no telling who swayed the votes...
