SWAC HOOPS - Conference Play 3/2/09

I think this will be Pett's last year. I think in time he could right the ship but sometime it's just time for change. Not sure who AAMU would go after, though.

Blankman (and DAHILL too), wishing Pettaway gone is only half the battle. :lecture:

Yep you are right... Pettaway is god to these folks here. I SERIOUSLY doubt if he is fired...but HEY I can still hope and pray. He should have applied for the AD job when it was open. IF he was fired Im sure he would be given some type of administrative job..... but he may have enough years to retire.

But he is an ARROGANT MF.... he called all his critics "internet coaches" on his radio show last week LOL.... he states he knows nothing about the internet (made himself look more foolish) I dont see how you return EVERY player from a 3rd place team and end up damn near in last place the next season. If he LOVES the program he would step down. We are on a 7 game losing streak... we lost to OAKWOOD and Talledega... Bama State beat us by 50. If he aint fired this year he will NEVER be fired.

THANK YOU PV!!!! :).... EVERYTHING is falling into place.

Pettaway made another dumb call.... called a timeout with about 10 seconds left AAMU down by 2..... sets up an in bound play under the goal and draws up a ALLEY UP inbound play... WTF. A play that has about a 20% chance to work. I dont know if I can thank PV or Pettaway.... neverthless THANKS!!! HOPEFULLY that was the last time I have to see a Pettaway coached team in person again.

What makes you so sure he is gonna get fired? Is his contract up? Do you guys have a chance of getting the dude fired from TNState?

I see we posted at the same time... like I said I highly doubt he is fired. If so, Cy Alexander (from Tn State) would definitely be one of MY favorites.

maybe they'll see the opportunity to grab a coach who's already been successful in DI and will make a move.

way to go Coach Woods for coming back from that brutal out of conference schedule. When you get a chance to recruit more of your players, Valley will be a contender again.

from what Ive seen... CY is the best coach out there. Tn State peeps were unrealisted in their expectations. TSU hadnt been a GREAT program since the very early 90s when Carlos Rodgers played. Cy inherited a team coming off a 1 win season and did a good job... Excellent recruiting job and landed alot of major D1 transfers. He knew what a D1 player was suppose to be. Pettaway is still recruiting the same type players he was when we were D2. The only posistion he knows how to recruit is guards and the only gameplan he knows if shooting 3s. He has some NICE post players this time, they aint touching the ball unless its off a rebound. A post player would be DUMB to ever sign with A&M under Pettaway.

3108 in attendance.. nice. That's the highest I can remember for UAPB game.

It was a great game even though we lost. Our players just had "butter fingers" last night, right up under the goal when they recieved the pass but some could not handle it.

Jackson State in my opinion is the best when it comes to execution. They are quick, when I say quick I mean really, really quick. They were the quickest of all the teams in the SWAC that came into the HYPER. They can really bounce off the floor too when it comes to second chance shots.

Again even though my school, lost the officiating was good. Like I said in an earlier thread, when the cameras are on...the officiating improves for some reason. lol.
IT WAS A VERY GOOD GAME LAST NIGHT. THE SWAC REFS APPEARED VERY COMPETENT AND IN CONTROL. THERE WAS NO DOUBT WHAT THE PROBLEMS WERE BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS. CONGRATS TO JSU ON A VERY GOOD CONTEST AND THANKS TO SWAC OFFICE FOR SENDING COMPETENT OFFICIALS TO WORK THE GAME. THESE ARE THE TYPE OF OFFICIALS THAT SHOULD BE CALLING ALL OF OUR GAMES !!:clap:

.......Man I tell you!

Anyway We missed too many FREEthrows! JSU hit theirs and that was the difference! Anything more than 8 turnovers and shooting less than 80% from the give-me line equals a loss! I will say JSU was very quick and protected the ball nicely!

Some of the ladies were looking nice too at the game.

Anyway...right.. the free throws were a bummer...19-32 They know what they need to work on.

I'm not sure about this statement above.......

Strib has some good disciples (Former Valley players) out there in the coaching ranks......

A couple are doing pretty good right here in the Jackson area.....

Willie Neal is the first that comes to mind....(Still in his 20's and about to play for a 3A state Championship on Friday in his 2nd year as the head coach)
Valley really could have used that Big Center he has at Raymond, but Mr. Mean (Alcorn) has signed him already.

Of Course, Luther Riley is over at Provine.......

Harmason and Petty are Green's players........you sure :emlaugh:

umm....hmm just like you were talking stupidly when Strib left, and thinking Green couldn't win. Ok genius who recruited Shannon Behling, Julius Cheeks, Tashan Newsome, all have played very well in spots this year for us. I know you secretly love Valley, that's why you ALWAYS have some little assinine comment when it concerns Valley.

Without Petty, Valley would be 0-forever.
