I think that Gramling will do well. It will be an issue of resolving the East in New Orleans of course. The one concern I have is Bruce's leg....how strong is it?

Da_Sperm said:I honestly think that GSU may be making a step backwards with Bruce at the helm. That team is more suited for the run (wing-T). Defending the wing-T requires discipline, which SWAC defenses won't have time to prepare for since this is an AIR-IT-OUT conference.

D-NICE said:SU like the previous 2 years, will be breaking in a new quarterback, but with a load of experienced WR's, offensive lineman, and a solid core of running backs, the Jags will be fine offensively. JC Lewis will be at the helm of the offense, and he's been in the system for 2 years, this kid could very well be the best quarterback to step on the field for Pete Richardson.
The defense will be the biggest question mark, though they should be greatly improved from last year. This unit may surprise some folk, there's size, and depth on the defensive line, speed, and range at linebacker, and the secondary returns SWAC Freshman Of The Year Jarmaul George, along with a few highly touted incoming freshmen, and transfers.
NICE
COACH said:Didn't you forget to tell us all how you lost 8 out 11 defensive starters. And if it wasn't for the new 80% rule it would have been 10 out of 11 starters lost on defense. And don't forget about the 2 lineman, tightend and QB you lost. JC Lewis won't work for su this year. It is proven that su quarterback has to be CLIPBOARD holder until their senior year. See what happened to Quincy Reeshard when he was a junior. In 2007 JC should be ready to run the offense.
:shh: D they are gonna find out for themselves when we go to Lake Charles and stomp a mudhole's in McNeese's arse. :nod:D-NICE said:^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
geezy, I know a lot of you Gramblingnite's like to believe that, but believe me the talent levels at SU, and ASU is right on par with GSU's, and I would imagine if AAMU were to ever get their quarterback position solid, they wouldn't be too far behind if not on equal footing.

He threw for over 8000 yards, and 67 touchdowns in high school, and in the event he falters, or gets injured he will have 2 all state quarterbacks backing him up, along with a sleeper from East Texas in CJ Byrd, and a former starting quarterback at the D1-AA level in Gerard Barrow.

Special teams should be solid. Breck Ackerly is returning to do the kicking, though he may have to do double duty in the kicking game, and it's pick your poison in the return game.
As usual the Jags should be in the thick of it by season's end, and a 3rd consecutive trip to Birmingham isn't out of the question.

MACHIAVELLI said:Are you sure about that.......
Well let the Jags say amen!!! AMEND-NICE said:You dayum right I'm sure about that. We lost some starters, but we got some back. From what I understand Kevin Mack was granted another year of eligiblity, Jarmaul George will return to his starting role, Rayland Johnson will be back, Darwin Hammond will be back at safety, and Jarvis Bridges will return to his starting role at the other corner. So again, yes we will be greatly improved on defense.
Quincy's first 1/4 year as a starter was in David Oliver's first year as the OC, his previous 3 years were under Mark Orlando, but after being in Oliver's system for 2 years, Quincy blossomed, the same for Ricks, and this same situation will apply for JC. Different coaching system, different results, being a football man you should understand that. Research, research, research.
I don't know why a lot of you GSU people think you are the only ones who can improve, it must be something in the water, or something.
NICE

Suge said:Now on another note. D-Nice made a comment about talent, and I have to agree. At GSU and SU the talent levels are about equal. And I have to throw ASU in that mix too. These teams have recruited their states well, and loaded up on quality transfers and non qualifiers that the big schools may have backed off on. That is why they have all played each other close the past few seasons. I just don't see one team have a clear edge in talent over the other. Now that said, talent alone doesn't win football games.

Newsflash You will see the last Saturday in November.COACH said:You think all that AAMU needs is a QB and their problems will be solved. But you did say that Southern defense would be better after losing 8 starters. Newsflash Kevin Mack and Rene aren't good defensive players.
