For the hundredth time, according to the NCAA guidelines, the SCG is not an NCAA sanctioned post season event, therefore they had no say-so in who participates. They were bound by their own statutes. The proof is in the fact that the NCAA couldn't ban SWAC teams from the SCG game itself. If they could've done so, they would have.

The SCG IS useless in a 9 game format..............So are divisions.
Explain it all you want. Just another horribly bad decision by our people in charge. :smh:

MH, let's use common sense here.

If the SCG was considered post-season by virtue of the NCAA ban, there would not have been a vote. If any of our tournaments were considered post-season by the NCAA, there would have been no need to extend the penalty to conference-sponsored post-season events.

Unless our Presidents and Commish are ignorant of the rules, the ban did not cover any of those things. We could let our banned teams play in tournaments and take our chances with the NCAA post-season bids.

While I don't agree with the 9 game format. In more than one occasion, the team who won the title in Bham didn't win the first match-up. I could be wrong but I think ASU beat GSU and SU in the reg season and lost to them in Bham. JSU lost to GSU in the reg season and lost to them in Bham.

And in 2007, JSU lost to Grambling during the regular season but defeated them in the SCG game that same year.

Right. We didn't have to go to the NCAA to sanction the SCG nor did we have to go to them to decide who the game would be run...divisions, games that count, etc... The SCG has nothing to do with the NCAA. Mighty Hornet knows that. In fact, the NCAA changed the SCG from being a post season event. Originally, it was a post season event becasue we didn't have 12 teams. That was later changed. The NCAA does not recognize the SCG as a post-season event. Just as the SEC, ACC, etc... title games are not post-season events.
 
The sad part is you folks want your schools to be rewarded for having low APR scores. That is beyond sad.

Either the '09 statute had to have been amended or you were misinformed about the NCAA banning Alabama State.

Post where it specifically stated that the NCAA banned Alabama State from the SCG (not NCAA post-season play), but the SCG.

I have the actual report somewhere and will try to find it, but whether it "specifically stated" the SCG or not or whether that was the interpretation, when that report came down, we were indeed banned from that game. And that ban didn't come as a result of a vote from the SWAC pres.

mh, I honestly don't know the difference. But you're acting as if the NCAA in it's ruling didn't specifically say that it was not banning anyone from the SCG. It's not open to interpretation, as you're trying to present it with your comparison. Regardless of how they ruled on y'alls case, in this one they said the ban does not include the SCG.

I think the distinct difference from ASU ban was the fact ASU actually got caught breaking RULES (cheating) and not simply not meeting a stipulated requirement.

Either way as robber said, that was that case. How many times have we seen the NCAA give out different penalties for the same offense (this isn't) because of the severety?

I knew JSU was out of the SCG game the same day it was posted here the NCAA banned us from post-season play. It's done and I knew it was comming. Check the threads.

And again, with a 9 game mandate, the SCG and division format is a meaningless concept. :tup:

The NCAA has no authority to reward us with a trip to the SCG and JSU's APR has been higher than several SWAC schools so why are they continuing to be, as you put it...."rewarded"?

The definition of post season doesn't change based on different violations, the severity of the sanctions do.
and for the record, ASU didn't "actually get caught breaking RULES", ASU self reported to the NCAA.

When it comes to anything labelled JSU, your honesty is highly questionable, so please find the report and post it....IF you can.:snicker:
