SWAC Basketball: 3/6 --3/8

That's just one game major095. Trant is ranked 3rd in the league in assist at 3.6. You can't seriously be comparing a one-game performance to argue a seasons' worth of stats... Maybe there was no need for him to give up the ball. Who helped their team more? Well, like you said Trant had zero (0) turnovers. I can sure tell you who didn't hurt their team.

Where are the TnSU fans, cheerleaders and band? The game is in Nashville, there are more Austin Peay fans there than Tigers.

TnSu 34

AP 48 2ND 16:00

from what I was told TSU is on spring break and the weather is bad. Black folks aint getting out in snow.

TSU fans show up for basketball... TSU leads all HBCU's in basketball attendance.

Andrew Hayles will be POTY and Brandon Brooks will be newcomer of the year. Damn 19 assists in one game, is that a SWAC Record? Brooks if the most productive pg in the SWAC.

major... Trant is the most exciting player in this league period. The things he does at 5'9 are damn near impossible. Like I have stated before when he is HEALTHY there isnt a player in the league that can stop him. He has spent over 75% of this year playing hurt (groin injury) and still leads the league in scoring. As far as who helped their team more... BOTH helped there team. Both teams won by big margins, I cant say who helped their team more, but you cant deny that 31 is DAMN GOOD. I wish I would have recorded the highlights he had from last weekends PV and Texas So games where he averaged 25 and won SWAC POTY. Brooks may get newcomer of the year, but he isnt going to get POTY for assist.

1. trant isn't leading the conference in scoring. chris davis is #1, hayles, norwood, maxey, anthony williams, then trant. trant isn't 3rd in assist... he's 4th and he #6 in assist/turnover ratio comitting more turnovers than dishing out assist. brooks is #1 in assist and #1 in assist/turnover ratio.

2. who helped their team more? trant score 31 and had one assist.. assuming it was a 3ptr.. he had a hand in 34 points. brooks had 19 assist... we'll assume they were all 2ptrs.. that's 38 pts and he scored 8 that's 46 points he was involved in. scoring point is great, but he's the point guard and is supposed to make his teammates better and he doesn't do that. he's a good player but he's not elevating his teammates. brooks is. it's not enough to score when your the point guard. now if he's moving to the 2-spot well, he's the best 5'9 shooting guard in the swac period.

Now you can post the bracket......and I hope this was the last time Sam West is allowed in the gym as coach of Alcorn!:smh:

MATTER OF FACT, KICK HIS BUTT OFF CAMPUS TONIGHT!

Dude that is not even a basketball arguement, and frankly it makes no sense. Two different games against two different teams, in two different cities, with two different scenarios. Simpson didn't even play the whole game. He didn't have to.

Trant Simpson and Mickell Gladness combined for 43 points as Alabama A&M rolled past Grambling 74-43 Saturday to end the regular season winning 10 of its last 12 games. Simpson did not play the final seven minutes of the game and still scored 31 points, just two off his career high. Gladness, the only senior on the team, finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks in his Elmore Gymnasium finale.

The Bulldogs turned a close game into a blowout in the second half holding the Tigers to just 13 points. A&M led 37-30 at the half.
I guess there goes your arguement there.

Trant was top 5 in scoring til last game against JSU. He slipped one spot. After tonight, he'll be back in the top 5 - in two categories (points and assists) major categories that rate a PG.

no tonight was just an illustration of my argument. simply put.... if your a point guard I don't know how someone can talk about you as THE BEST PG in the league or as a potential POY when you have more turnovers than assist OR when there a 5 dudes in front of you in assist.

I will make one amendment to my case. coference stats only... trant's #2 in scoring, #5 assist, but #8 in assist/turnover ratio.

those stats have nothing to do with one game... but an entire season. he's not the best pg in the league this season.. not even close.

oh, yeah, jason kidd isn't known for his great shooting stroke or b/c he can score a ton of points. he's runs the team makes plenty of assist. same for avery johnson.

this argument is pointless. You can not compare a scoring point guard with a more true point guard and try and determine who is more vital. Thats like comparing AI to JKidd. Their game is complete different.

What 5 dudes are ahead of Trant in assists?

Trant is in the top 5 in points and assists, and did this all while playing with a groin injury all season. He's still not at 100%. Just 3 weeks ago, he had to leave the game against Bama St. for that. That is nothing short of spectacular. Being hobbled will affect your turnover ratio, especially when you're counted on to be the man.

Kidd ain't even in the top 5 point guards in the NBA:

(In no particular order)
1) Chris Paul
2) Dwayne Wade
3) Steve Nash
4) Chauncey Billups
5) Allen Iverson

Man, come on. Brooks is not counted on to score. Trant is our #1/do-it-all guy. Which is more important to their team? I think our recent turnaround in record speaks to that.

the numbers sort of speak for themselves dont they. hey whatever works for yall. it was good enough for a 3rd place finish. certainly better than alcorn. trant is a tremendous guard. maybe when hester comes back those assist nubers will go up.

I'm not talking about 90 y/o jason kidd, I mean kid in his prime was the best passing pg around.

major all of these pick and choose stats you are putting up dont mean a thing... Pettaway needs Trant to SCORE. If he was needed to put up big assist numbers he would do so. He DID lead the SWAC in assist as a freshman. He isnt counted on to "assist" this year, he is counted on to score. Brooks cant do the things Trant can do... any coach in the SWAC will tell you that. A HURT Trant is the most exciting player in this league to watch. I dont need stats to prove that. I have seen it with my own eyes. You are the type of person who will anyalyze stats until you find something to support your arguement... How many SWAC games have you been to this year? I bet you would say that Chief is better than Mickell because his field goal percentage is better.

major095,
Assist/TO ratio on a hobbled player is gonna be low. I figured you would take this into account, but you cherry picked. But does he have assists? Yes, 3rd best in the league. Come on now dude.

But then you went on to say Trant doesn't make his teammates better? You lost ALL credibility in any of your arguement with that statement.

FACT: Trant Simpson is the ONLY PLAYER in the SWAC to be in the top 5 in both points and assists.

Andrew Hayles will be POTY and Brandon Brooks will be newcomer of the year. Damn 19 assists in one game, is that a SWAC Record? Brooks if the most productive pg in the SWAC.

I have a feeling the SWAC is going to give Hayles that POTY.:angry::angry:

IMO Chris Davis is the poty. If you take him away from SU it would be :retard::retard::retard: .
