If GSU takes two-of-three against Southern, then Grambling will need Southern and Prairie View A&M to lose one game each to have a shot at clinching the title outright!

Don't think so....and if so, it's only because you been in the SWAC longer. We have represented in ALL sports in EVERY decade that we have been in the SWAC. You need to be talking to Grambling or some other lesser school. SU was ONLY winning those commishioner's cups in the 90s because you put money into women's sports before everyone else. JSU has always had a better men's program.

Saturday, for Southern, was about answering.

After Grambling?s Mario Jefferson pitched a first-game gem, blanking SU 5-0, the Jaguars had to answer, and did so, 11-9, in a second game that ebbed and flowed at Lee-Hines Field.

When Grambling took the lead, SU?s bats had a reply both times. And when Grambling made the game close again with a five-run sixth, closer Cody Elliott stood tall, with two strikeouts in a shutout seventh.

?That?s really what it?s about: answering challenges,? Southern coach Roger Cador said. ?We did that (Saturday). We?ve just got to keep doing it. I told those kids this team would be difficult, and they proved that today.?

Southern (22-14, 14-6 Western Division) and Grambling (18-19, 15-8) meet in the series finale ? a single, nine-inning game ? at noon today. The game will be televised on KPBN (Cox Cable Ch. 113).
