SWAC Baseball 5/6-8

I doubt it.

That's one team you can't sleep on. When they are on it they are and vice versa. It depends on who they pitch and if they don't make any errors that all our teams are prone to do at times. BTW, Can someone from JSU answer this. What day do yall play Grambling next week and when are yall doing the make up game against A&M?

We play AAMU on Tue and Wed so I'm thinking games will stay same with Gram

Southern, TSU split doubleheader
By PERRYN KEYS
Advocate sportswriter
Published: May 8, 2011 - Page: 3C Comments (0) During his customary postgame huddle with his Southern baseball team, longtime coach Roger Cador was animated Saturday afternoon — more animated than usual, which, for him, is quite a lot.

His voice boomed and echoed off the walls at Lee-Hines Field, where the Jaguars had just split a doubleheader with Texas Southern in their final regular-season Southwestern Athletic Conference series. Cador clenched and pumped his fists as he spoke. He was, if nothing else, passionate about the message he delivered, whatever it was.

But as he walked off the field, Cador said, Saturday wasn’t so bad.

Sure, the Jaguars looked lifeless and helpless during a 7-2 loss in the first game.

But between games, they cleared their heads, made adjustments and shuffled their lineup, hoping to correct so many of the mistakes they’d made lately.

The moves paid off. Southern pounded the Tigers 16-3 in a seven-inning, mercy-rule-shortened game, earning a two-game split.

Because the Jaguars had already clinched the Western Division title, the scores in these final three games weren’t so important, Cador said. Seeing signs of improvement — now that was important.

"I feel better" Cador said.

For the first time all season, because of injury, SU played its best lineup in game 2. I will say this, they played championship caliber defense :) . Just hope they can stay healthy.

  No errors and that was great. See the outcome when you don't have any.

Talk about injuries, we have 2 or 3 position players who started last year who are out for the season. Then, 3 of our starting pitchers were scheduled to return are out for the season probably only started 3 games between the 3. We had to put our closer as our #1. With all that being said, there are no excuses, we will win the tourney.

Per the advocate:

Laufenberg held SU scoreless in three relief innings April 3 in Houston.

In his past five outings against Southern, he has a 0.96 ERA in 18.2 innings.

He pretty much dominates everyone.

He knows how to pitch and was hitting his spots, buttttt , We got something for him, if we see him again. :)

The Alcorn Braves will play the final game of the three game series at Arizona. First pitch is 2 p.m. CT. The game can be heard on WPRL.ORG.

He's a very deceptive pitcher. Like Hall said, it's difficult to pick up his ball. He's been doing that for 4 years. He came in throwing no harder than 83 and now he's probably sitting at 90 with some wicked movement on all his pitches. That side are delivery is difficutl to solve especially at 90 mph

lol I hope he is the only pitcher y'all have.

Honestly, there is one more that I have some confidence in. But not having 3 of our starting pitchers that had really good season last year has caused to slip a bit.

For those who have played and watched the SWAC tourney, we all know about the SWAC tourney is not about pitching. You rarely see any games where less than 10 combined runs are scored. It's all about speed and defense. Which we have both... Because everyone will hit.
