SWAC baseball 4/17-4/19

More excuses coming. Please stay tuned....
now herre you go with your childish bullsh!t! he asked "why" in response jag-br saying that loss hurt....meaning we are still in 1st. reading may be fundamental but comprehension is harder than a muthaphocka!

even though su is in 1st, i dont like they offensive output as of late. su has been limited to 1 run in 4 games over the last 2 weeks! i know mcdavid is out but there are more hr hitters that need to put the ball in play.

They really miss McDavid, and Hall hasnt been the same hitter since he started catching. When everyone returns SU is going to be special again.

I agree!

it hurts because losing and/or winning can get to be habit forming. teams want to be playing their best ball down the stretch.

Game 1
West Florida - 1
Miss. Valley - 0

Game 2
West Florida - 2
Miss. Valley - 0

Game 3
West Florida - 6
Miss. Valley - 4

Go Lions!
congrats uapb! this is su's 1st series loss.

the races are getting closer on each side. valley and j-state are playing for 1st and alcorn and bama a&m are going at it for 3rd.

if su win tomorrow and win 1 in the next 2 series they will take 1st in the west. gram and pb are about to have a crucial series. the final week will determine 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in the west.

i cant say the east is tuffer but the top 4 has better pitching than in the past. but it seems like the west is becoming stronger pitching wise. pb may be the team to beat.

hard to say.....UAPB is a senior team so they may not have tourney jitters like PV didn't in 2005 when they marched to the title without no experience...

but whoever is hot the final week usually determines the champ...:emlaugh:

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Arkansas-Pine Bluff ace Justin Moring and Alex Huckabee’s homers set the tone as the Golden Lions swept a doubleheader from Southern on Sunday at Regional Park.

Moring (7-2) struck out eight in a 10-1 first-game victory, as he pitched all seven innings, with Huckabee providing a pair of solo homers. And powered by Huckabee’s two-run shot, UAPB struck for four runs in the first inning of the second game en route to a 7-6 win.

“The only thing good is we’re so far ahead (in the division), but then again you don’t know what’s going to happen,†Southern coach Roger Cador said.

The teams conclude their series with a nine-inning game at noon today. The series had been delayed a day by rain Saturday.

I think it is going to be a very very wild tournament I guess we can say SU is the early favorite Valley has strong top 2 or 3. We are getting Healthy Josh was great even in a loss this weekend so to have him to start a third or fourth game that could go really far the game down in BR was the first time Drains got hit well.Huggins was two batters away from a no hitter. We are just so inconsistent hitting right now hotting wise which I thought we would never say. We are either leaving runners on base or just having bad at bats. Throw in PV Gram or TSU . You never know which Alcorn that may show up and Gonzales gives them a chance to win every time out. AAMU wont have the fire power or arms but they keep the games close and you never know at the end of the game.

the thing that helps/hurts teams is that the tourney is nearly 3 weeks after conference season ends. last year tx su was fortunate being on the opposite side of su and pv. and for the last 3 yrs, the su-pv games are the tourney games that's really for all.

i heard if pv cant take the 2nd place spot they will take their chance in the 4th place spot.

What the hell is going on in the SWAC??? AAMU swept JSU Friday and PB sweeps SU yesterday. Damn!!! I ain't gone lie, I took for granted JSU was taking 4 from A&M this weekend. It reinforces what's been happening all season. For once, JSU has a decent staff, but the bats are dormant. We need some sticks.

We have the sticks, but they're inconsistent. One game they score only 3 or 4 runs, the next games they score 16 and 22 runs.

I have to give it to our pitching and defense though. Both areas have improved quite a bit from last year. Hopefully the hitting will become more consistent though.
To me, the SWAC is wide open. Valley is tougher than people think.
We play Grambling tomorrow evening, so we'll see what kind of team they have.

Pitching depth! In order to have a chance you need pitching depth....and I mean guys who can keep it in the strike zone. What has hurt the SWAC is most of our teams aren't good after our top 2 pitchers.

Well for what its worth I think that first game was a makeup for the rained out game earlier this year, So in essence We still won BOTH of the series with AAMU. I agree with the bats, they are inconsistent this year but the pitching etc has all improved.
