They can't do it now, always waiting to fill slots the 1/2 year before. Now they will have to wait to see the Swac master schedule to find out what dates they have available to schedule ooc games.
The conference needs get master schedule set and released quickly to help that out. Or at least announce the first 2-3 weeks will have no conference games.

SU-JSU
Grambling-Alcorn
UAPB-Valley
TXSU-AAMU
PV-Bama State

4 schools in the SWAC would love that, but the other 6 probably wouldn't like who they would be matched against. It would help preserve and build rivalries by having that 1 team that you will see every season from the opposite division.

Now you know this makes entirely too much sense lol....

It gives us a few more home games but nobody wants to see Texas College, Virginia Lynchburg. I wouldn't mind us scheduling FAMU, Tn State, or Tuskegee for HC. Las Vegas again.

Poor Alcornite_86, ATLBrave, Antroy, etc...

I tried to warn them. The SWAC wasn't going to let its HBCU National Champion get away with a schedule like that.

But I'm idiot to them.

Dude, I do not have a problem with Alcorn's scheduling OOC games. Remember, I was on campus in the 80's when we played SC State, FAMU, Northwestern LA and others. GTFOHWTBS. Get on the phone and call Horne and Hopson and tell them how you feel.

OH, yeah, Register for the Metro DC HBCU Alliance 5k and select Alcorn as the school of support.

I made this exact same comment to my long time friend and classmate Charles Edmond (Alcorn State) yesterday during a phone conversation. The sooner the SWAC office creates the master schedule for 2017, the sooner ADs can get to work in creating those schedule for the 2017 season.

no we didn't TP ..we been playing Meac & OOC schools even before we entered the SWAC...

Not true.. I used to clown ya'll because no MEAC school would play you all. You had to be in the SWAC 6 or 7 years before you played one.. Again.. you all do better now. Congrats.

Lets just be honest, the SWAC has 3 schools that will not have a problem with scheduling, 4 if u counting one more the REST,,, o_O
You folks keep saying that, yet JSU , SU and GSU has played schools like Lynchburg. Do they teach y'all to lie at your Universities?

You Mad? lol

Hey Bison in Washington, DC:

I know you all read this board. Now is your chance. The SWAC Players would LOVE to visit and tour Washington, DC. Ole BH may even sneak the 21 and ups to Stadium after the game.

You can really potentially pack out Greene Stadium now.

Like I've said previously:

If we are going to do this 7-Game Mandate, we need to do it RIGHT and FAIR. Point.Blank.Period.

The Conference can be productive but we have to do right and PRACTICE GOOD BUSINESS!!!!!!!!! I repeat PRACTICE GOOD BUSINESS!!!!!!

I don't want us to repeat the mistakes of the past. There is no SWAC Big Three. We need Checks and Balances in place to keep it this way.

BH123's Proposed Rules:

1. The Previous Years SWAC West and SWAC East Division Champions must meet in a Conference Game the following year. Home Site is That of Previous Year's SWAC Football Champion.

2. Monetary penalty/Fine for scheduling schools below FCS Level THAT ARE NOT IDENTIFIED AS HBCUs.

The rules about how the 7 games work will be key to its success. Last time they didn't spell it out and that hurt. I do like the idea of a permanent opponent from the other division, and you rotate the rest. As well, the idea here is that this should improve scheduling for swac teams. Continuing to play teams in the conference (when they are not a conference game) should not be allowed under any circumstances. Its incestuous, and we know what inbreeding does to people and we've seen what it does to our conference. Hopefully they will allow teams to only play down one game w/o being penalized significantly. You can play a second game but you have to pay the conference office 250k. That would remove all the incentive to play those games except those that would be extremely lucrative.

I know I shouldn't, but ummmm

How is that "RIGHT and FAIR". Besides, the divisional champions already meet in something we call the SCG. Just because Alcorn and Southern won the divisions last year, doesn't mean anything for the next year.

I don't see the issue with say JSU vs. SU being played as a Non-Conference Game. If that's what they want to do, let them do it. But like I said previously, if this game were to take place in Baton Rouge and The SWAC rolled them onto each other's schedule the next year as an actual Conference Game, that game would be in Jackson. That is Fair. The SWAC Office should not leave it to the Schools to determine this. Nip it in the Bud and Move On.

Which brings me to my next proposed rule:

If two SWAC Teams desire to play each other as a Non-Conference Game, they both must also schedule that same season 1) An opponent from the Mid-Eastern Athletic conference or if this option is not viable 2)an FCS-Level opponent.

If SU and JSU want to play each as a non-Conference Game, Fine. But they both would also be required to schedule a MEAC or FCS opponent as well.

Checks and Balances.

On a yearly basis I'm sure Grambling would keep SU due to the rivaly, PV due to state fair classic and rivalry, Alcorn due to rivalry, JSU due to rivalry, UAPB due to rivalry.

Checks and Balances MH. Checks and Balances. Don't want it to happen....Be SWAC East Champions. It's that simple (Unless you have APR issues).

How about you send these proposed rules to the SWAC officials and let us know how much they like your ideas.
