SU's Tony Clayton strikes again. Wants Grambling out of the Bayou Classic

I think the BC used to draw thousands of fans from around the country who aren't affiliated with either school because it was an "event" like Essence is an event. I'm not sure how or if the BC can get those fans back. Now it seems as if the game is only important to those with ties to each school.

You're right, man I stayed meeting chicks from such and such place..and how they 'heard' about the classic....man this one I met from Sac-town...oh my smh..man she had green eyes (real)..man..but yea you're right about that..folks use to come from every where to this event....

Yes indeed....

Also, people are still skiddish about going to New Orleans post-Katrina, despite the Super Bowls, bowl games and NCAA Tournaments and even Wrestlemania coming in April.
Working to change minds and get people to come to NOLA is still a constant fight across the country, especially how the economy has been the last few years.

We've got to increase our efforts to sell the entire Bayou Classic experience to the nation. But first things first, Grambling football has got to get itself off the mat and get things right. We were horrid until this season. If Grambling and Southern play the Classic with the West on the line, or even both with winning records ... the game crowd will show back up.

Also, Jackson State-Southern in New Orleans had its chance ... and it ultimately failed. The MEAC schools won't play because of the FCS playoffs.

I almost hate to say this, but yall have got to be some of the most uuuuuh unsmart MFers Ive ever seen in my life.

Who cares who started the BC? Whats does that really have to do with anything? There comes a points when the game is unequally beneficial to each side. How long did Texas and Texas A&M play? A&M said forget the Big12 and moved on. Sometimes you have to move on and quit worrying about history. When the local people were coming to the game it was mutually beneficial to both sides. Now that only school fans are showing up SU is doing all of the work but getting half the pay.

Tony is absolutely right. What does his affiliation with Jindahl have anything to do with the FACTS?

And the part that gets me is he saying the exact same thing that yall say EVERY day in EVERY thread. Thats all yall have....but he is crazy for saying it?

This is like some Twilight Zone shit

You're right. Unfortunately though, your comment...and what I"m about to say will be looked as at hating and taken the wrong way.

I read this thread...overlooking the usual comments from folks about JSU...and the conclusion I came to is Tony Clayton needs to keep speaking out and at least open dialogue about the future of the BC and how to improve it b/c clearly it's not doing well or getting better and something needs to be done before all is lost. That's just based on the comments I read on TSPN.

Nobody came back with any REAL information, facts, evidence, etc. as to why Tony Clayton is a crazy ass sell out. oh...he donated $5,000 to Jindal. Big fugging deal. What does that have to do with the BC and his comments which some of y'all have stated as well?!

Folks want to yell tradition, history, etc. That's black folks reason for continuing to do something when they really know deep down...it doesn't make sense any more.

If it doesn't make dollars...it doesn't make sense.

And maybe Tony Clayton is wrong...but nobody in THIS thread has given a real reason why.

Sad...

Just like Alcorn said forget having the Capital City Classic in Jackson, MS every year and decided to move on by bringing the game back to Lorman, MS every other year.

To them...it wasn't working, so they made a change to see if it will work better. What's wrong with that?! :retard:

That's pretty much all Tony Clayton is saying. But y'all want to laugh.

Y'all are dumb!

But Bighead...even some of the posters have said the same thing over the years concerning the BC. But now b/c it's TC and he actually said where other folks could hear it (outside of TSPN)...then its' the worst message ever.

You shouldn't get so defensive young lady. Instead of going outside of the SWAC to seek an example of moving on, I decided to use a very recent example that took place right here in the SWAC conference. :emlaugh:

Man, folks have actually said they are disagreeing with this simply because Tony Clayton brought it up.

Do you really think that makes sense to anyone but those participating in this herd mentality?

Not that JSU posters are immune from this sort of thing because they did the same thing when they kicked out Kendrick.

I'm just saying groupthink tends to not make much sense.
