SU Still Copying JSU?!!

Only thing the sonic pop of the souf has down is the bootlegged Image awards....

 ... so smalltime.

What's really strange, LSU is closer to New Orleans than Southern, but Southern's band have gotten more invites to big major events in New Orleans. When I marched in Southern's Band in the fall of 83 and spring of 84, we performed on opening day of the 1984 New Orleans World Fair.

Dude, who cares about an SEC band?:emlaugh: Grambling's better than LSU.

Knew he couldn't stay away from a subject involving about The BOOM.

Hey T-Su, maybe you're honest and bold enough to answer the question. Has SU's band gotten better under Jackson since Greggs retired?

I'll take that as a yes. So the SU band HAS gotten is better under Jackson than it was under Greggs?! Hmmm, interesting deduction.

There it is folks and from a diehard SU former bandsman. SU's living off past history and Gregg's history just like Grambling's living off of Robinson's name and legacy. Nothing contemporary about that.

And as far as the Super Bowl is concerned, congrats on that. They saved a lot of travel expenses cause you're right at New Orleans so what's the point?
Thanks again JR.

And one more thing, SU played "The Show" at the BC against Grambling.

Rosebowl parade (Pasadena Calif ),Radio city music hall ( New York )..So whats your point? Dude please stop,we just kicked on 8 on you. If you know what that is..lol

Where you got living off the past in my post, I don't know. I named the stuff they are doing recently. The Dolls got their invite based on their recent history. Hell these Dolls are better dancers than the ones we had. LOL. So no living off the past there. I don't recall going to Africa when I was in the band nor the Caribbean. So I think they got their own cred for those invites. Mr. Jackson has done some nice things with building relationships outside of Baton Rouge. It is hard to follow a Legend like Doc Greggs who built the Jukebox reputation. But I got to give it to them that they still have it. Ain't like the band is sorry or something. Them mofos are still great. Us old heads might not like all the changes over the years. But SU is still a beast of a band and the best in HBCU Land bar none. Most consistent. The Juke don't compete with other bands. They compete with other versions or editions of the Jukebox. Trust me. That's exactly how they feel. And to say the band has dropped off since Doc retired is a lie. Have their been changes. Sure. But Jackson has had versions of the Jukebox that were better than some of Doc's versions at the end of his tenure. Some years you are much better than others. But at least even when it is a down year by Juke standards not anyone elses. They still are better than the rest. This year they were very good. And again, The Show is not in any regular rotation for the Jukebox. I don't recall them playing it at the BC. They certainly don't play it like JSU as a rally tune or to hype the crowd. Neck is the Juke's hype song and they have pulled out It ain't over till it's over by Lenny Kravitz again. Which was a staple during the 90s. So Jayrob stick the sports board talk. You have no clue about bands. Hopefully my boy Dowell Taylor will elevate the Boom back to where he had them his last year in 1990. Hopefully he stays. But since you got a NSU President. It would not shock me if you ole Sanford (SU Alum by the way) gets that job if Taylor doesn't want to stay. I see Taylor brought him on in like he did Paul Adams (SU alum again) back in the day.

And another thing. Don't mention SU and Grambling's band in the same breath when talking living off the past. SU is still creating their legacy while GSU got some things to work out. Now let this thread go. I will give you the Go Home chant which the SU youngsters in the crowd started up with the band at the BC. They don't know any better. Chalk it up as new school isht. But the rest of the stuff you are reaching seriously.

I am just glad Jsu stopped wearing those long cotton filthy ass hats. That stuff looked nasty and was off white because they were not clean. Can't fault them for copying S.U. because that was not a good look.

Juke, Don't worry about ole Jayrob. He is bored right now. I would think he would be trying to smack UAPB or something for the SCG. He don't know anything about bands. Nor does he know their history. He don't even know his own school's band history or he would not be saying isht about not living up to a legacy. SIVAD and Haughton send help.

Yeah I know it is not well liked. But that's what Jukes do. They compare themselves to other versions of the Jukebox. Not anyone else. I can tell you in that band room, they really don't give a fugg about the other bands. At least when I marched we understood their were other good bands out there even though we knew we were going to take it to them. It was a different vibe. Right now these cats don't feel like they have any competition at all. And it has been they way for a long time. They don't even engage in isht talking with other bands/schools any more. They rather compete with being the best Juke version ever.

SU copying history for ya SU been playing Gangster Bitch since the song came out so has the Boom....The Go Home Chant was started by the Boom in 2002 when Valley came and we told them Go Home/ You Suck ....so the Boom been saying it every since!

SU tried to use the Go Home Chant on JSU because we been beating they ass on a regular since Comegy came in 2006...2010 was they first time tried it but that didnt work so that gotta chance to do it this year...O well they stole that who cares...The Boom will just come up with sumtin else!

Same goes for the Show JSU and SU both played it back in the day it just stuck with the Boom...SU just plays it to mess with the Boom! thats it no big deal they still aint shit!

If I am not mistaken GB was played by everyone in 98 but the first time I heard the chant was in 98 by JSU during the 5th against Alcorn. Reason being they had run out of songs & had started repeating songs and they played GB so long and chanted go home till we left lol. That was the last long 5th quarter in Memorial Stadium. They had turned all the lights out on us.

Dang, you right ScreamTeam...that was the 1st time I heard it too, come to think of it. The police then came and escorted both bands out the stadium

JR, please. Since Jackson's been there, he's always tried to shine during the BOOMbox classic. He simply got outright embarassed two years ago when he prematurely and ignorantly started the Gangsta B/ GO HOME theme BEFORE the final buzzer had sounded.
Now THAT has to be one of the ALL-TIME most embarassing moments in Jukebox history. Even you had to laugh at that embarassment.:lol:
Seeing those looks on SU faces is still to this very day....PRICELESS.:emlaugh:

Dude, that had nothing to do with anything. That embarrassment was on the SU football team for giving up the ghost with way less than a minute to go. You are reaching big time. Mr. J has taken care of business every time he has faced JSU as the head man. If anything, he has been more cut throat against yall than Doc did. Doc really didn't give a fugg about yall after Taylor left in 90. Oh well. Keep reaching to try to clean up this Jayrob. The simple fact is that the CURRENT and recent editions of the JUKEBOX is getting their just due accolades in and out of the SWAC right now, have no serious competition and our lead arranger Nate Haymer has none either. I can see why they are bored now.

Got to be kidding me on the band or Mr J being embarrassed about playing Gangsta B after SU's TD with half a minute in the game. Are you serious? I know that was highlight of your life. But damn dude, that still does not change the fact that the Juke is a far superior organization than your beloved Boom. Hopefully Taylor will return them glory like they used to be. He is off to a good start. But he got a lot of work to do.

How you know? You don't even leave Scotlandville.

The nasty and unclean crap is all over youtube.

As much as you talk about Scotlandville, you must have gotten your ass whipped there a few times. And by the way, I'm not from Scotlandville.

You didn't know? That was part of the show. She was supposed to pull it out at the end of her routine. The dance move was called, "unplugging the puzzy pop", which would have put the icing on the cake after all of that pelvic thrusting and rolling all over the ground.

How many Superbowls has JSU been apart of

How many President Inauguration JSU been part of

I'm curious to know Lol

<a href="http://beta.photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/o787/headcrack2012/scv1awjpg-1.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

What does that have to do with anything. Some bad bands have been in Presidential Inaugurations. Even Dr. Liddell pointed that out when a reporter asked him about the last inaugration. He promptly said, "look at the quality of the bands they invited."

Also, nobody outside of TSPN knew those were the dolls at the SB halftime becasue they didn't put on the screen who they were nor could they adversize beforehand that they would be on there. That show fit their style. The J-Settes have been the best HBCU dance group for decades.
