Dude how does that explain about SU being viewed more than JSU lol...

Care about the what?? Lol...nga please...

And how do you explain SU's rapid deterioration since Greggs departure? SU's band is nowhere near what it used to be. Now tell me it is so your colleagues can laugh you off this forum.

Another Ole Negro Spiritual Story huh?!

I rememba when Massa let us play our horns after pickin' cotton in the fields all day.

*cues violin*

You are a new schooler. You don't have the cred to talk to us 80s cats. LOL. You were never in any band at JSU that was on old JSU level and definitely not on any Jukebox level I marched in. Carry on.

We played "The Show" in 1985 when other bands were not. As a matter of fact we got big house in Jackson and Detroit with it that year. Roy Johnson arranged the isht out of that tune. We even had folks doing the rap and this cat on baritone from Dallas Carter HS did the beatbox like Dougie on it. LOL.

JR, SUs version of the Show is pure trash and comedy. If ya'll played it and JSU fans were like "dayum!", i could see why you would still play it but when you play it, JSU fans are like, "now watch how you REALLY play it." In the superdome when ya;ll first tried it, you should have never tried it again after what the BOOMs rendition did to ya'll.

Uh TP. This is a different arrangement that SU's plays now. When we played it in 85 we got MAJOR HOUSE in Jackson. Ask Mr. Taylor himself. LOL. Ask him who got waxed that evening. Roy Johnson does not arrange garbage. You better ask someone. I forgot you are another one who is used to seeing the NEW bands. Oh well. And if you think that arrangement that the Boom plays is good then I suggest you go back and listen to the old arrangements of that tune. Missing all kinds of parts.

Too Easy to Ether you...

My game is stepped up..."small-time" is showing now really!!!!! Lmfao...It's really showing that yall don't live outta Mississippi and this board lmfao

Good.. ya'll need to go find that one.

...and fire whoever wrote "Atomic Dog". :smh:

Actually the Atomic Dog one is good. Lots of moving parts. You wouldn't understand that. As for the Show. The only reason the current Juke arranged that tune was to fugg with JSU as they knew from seeing the old tape that SU did that tune up in the 80s. Nothing more and nothing less. Ain't like they play it often or against other schools. I have not heard them play it against anybody else but the Boom.

I would tell you to stick to sports commentary, but you got some challenges there too. LOL. For sure you need to stay away from the band talk.

SU Band is still doing great things and getting their invites. When your Dolls get to go dance and choreograph the last Super Bowl halftime performance with Madonna you are getting looks. When you band travels to Africa and the Caribbean recently. When your band has done special performances on the West Coast not tied to a football game. You can't even clown them on having name recognition. One thing about the Jukebox, it did not have to piggy back off their football program to get acclaim. At this point when you think of HBCU Band, we have no contemporaries outside of FAMU when it comes to branding Nationally.

This can't be this easy Lol...you can't be serious Lmfao...

You have to understand TP's logic. He is trying to save this thread for his fellow JSUer. Outside that Go Home chant that actually the crowd started more so than the band when playing that Gangsta B. It is what it is. If they want to claim Go Home. Let them have it. Bout the only thing they have made up on their own. LOL. GSU is still looking for rocks the house. If I was them I would play that isht as well. LOL.

I like both bands, I prefer the Jukebox over the Boom, thats just me. To end this madness of a topic, JSU started using the "Go Home" chant while playing Gangsta Bitch first. Ok close this BS thread ASAP lol....

So a drumline going to Africa supposed to mean that you're better than JSU's drumline?:emlaugh: That mess yall call a drumline can't touch JSU's and you know it.

So you're saying that under Jackson, SU's band has gotten better than when under Greggs? Yea or nay?

There it is folks and from a diehard SU former bandsman. SU's living off past history and Gregg's history just like Grambling's living off of Robinson's name and legacy. Nothing contemporary about that.

And as far as the Super Bowl is concerned, congrats on that. They saved a lot of travel expenses cause you're right at New Orleans so what's the point?
Thanks again JR.

And one more thing, SU played "The Show" at the BC against Grambling.

What's really strange, LSU is closer to New Orleans than Southern, but Southern's band have gotten more invites to big major events in New Orleans. When I marched in Southern's Band in the fall of 83 and spring of 84, we performed on opening day of the 1984 New Orleans World Fair.
