Stephen A. Smith to Kevin Durant: "You don't want to make an enemy out of me"


I like the show at times but other times its hard to watch. Its sounds like ESPN paid him to be Da Loud Mouth Brotha on tv. To hear him measure up his career against writers at Washington Post and other folks who criticize was just as bad. I think this new age wave of Reporters who call players out are getting just as sensitive as the players they call out. It also sounded like SAS said he has a big mouth so he could telling everything about players who talk about him in the league.

Where Jalen Rose at....Lol.
 



I never really thought that highly of SAS, especially since I saw SAS in that Atlanta NABJ party in 2005 drinking that pink drink and then his attitude at the sports task force breakfast in Vegas for 2007 NABJ.

Real talk: SAS has pissed off peers and others in the biz for years with his reporting.

Professionally: I hate it when you quote "sources close to ..." when it's NOT something that is of governmental/life-or-death situations where folks need anonymity. However, what folks see on TV for the last 15 years is what kids are coming into my classes, and others, thinking it's standard operating procedure.

I've been threatened a few times during my time in the field. Hell, some of us take that as a badge of honor. But you never tell someone you potentially cover that you can make life difficult for them. That's bad business.

I had to rewatch SAS' comments. He was very unprofessional IMO. That line about "Do you want me to get back in those arenas?" sounded like a rap beef. When we interview folks/athletes/whoever, we are in THEIR space. You gotta take THEIR responses and their tone ... and be professional. You always gotta take the high road when you're the reporter (thanks MH) and have the good sense (R.I.P. Robber) to do so.

Then he used the time to big-up his own career and sideways challenged folks to go view and compare resumes of those covering the SAS/Durant beef and his own.

Thanks for inside point of view. Is it Ego or Dollars that drive folks like SAS report stories like he does? I remember Robert Smith couldn't stand him on espn for a long time til he went on First Take and hashed things out with SAS.

it was on the black magic documentary and one of his former players said "Stephen A Smith Wrote an article saying we need to get rid of coach Gaines, he's too old, Blah,Blah,Blah
and he ask coach Gaines did you get upset? and coach Gaines said Hell no, Hell no, he got a right to say what he want to say, he may not know what the hell he's talking bout but, he got a right"

He was that "opinionated" against the grain guy but he is tame compared to SAS.

The thing that made First Take/Cold Pizza what it was is Skip, Woody and Jay Crawford at first then Skip versus whoever (Jemele Hill, 2 Live Stews (hate what happened to them), Rob Parker (he got screwed over) and SAS). Once they went from being a variety show to strictly a debate show and made SAS permanent it lost some of the flavor I liked about it.

Where SAS turns off a many (black) people is the constant bragging about how much money he makes at ESPN while throwing brothers under the bus (as referenced in below clip at the beginning). When he did the same thing with women and DV (and Michele Beadle called him out), ESPN suspended him. Throw the brothers under the bus but women (Hope Solo) and LGBT (Griner) are off limits.

He is very sensitive about people calling him a c**n or Uncle Tom lol

SAS has already certified himself as a c**n after white approval. They love this sloppy azz schitt.
 
I can't say I ever liked or disliked Stephen A but after watching the full video, I agree. I think he is a fool and a straight up c**n who needs to go sit back down on Winston-Salem's bench somewhere.
