Spring time at JSU

Good to see the kids responding to him. And they seem to really like the staff around him.

I didnt know Javancy Jones made a 26 on his ACT....wow

Which is another reason why I understand Duke was one of his Collegiate options coming out of HS!

Hey Tigerpride,

Since I am always wrong about pointing out kids who I think are beast, let me share some inside information about a kid who is coming to JSU who I think we be a good.

Romello Shumake is a solid handed WR who is going to roll with Jackson State in fall and I thought he was a "beast" at MLK. He has d_mn good hands, and runs sweet routes. The kid had offers to two schools who will be FBS schools next season. (Appalachian State & Charlotte). He also could have went to FCS schools FAMU and Valdosta. He was recruited by Michigan State and Oklahoma State also, but they decided to go with taller guys. Don't believe me? Just know I know MSU insider Jimmy Comp quite well as I have worked with him on some Arena Football business. MSU choose a 6'6 kid over 5'10 Shumake.

Anyway, the kid can play and should be everyone's radar when playing JSU. Nice pick up by the new staff. But as you believe, I most likely will be wrong like I was wrong about telling ya'll about how ya'll were going to open the season vs. Tulane in the dome way before ya'll schedule even came out. Remember that? Ya'll had no idea.

Shumake is decent… his highlights were all fade routes where he outran the db. He will get a quick redshirt to build his frame and learn. We will see 2 years from now if he will be a great wr

You must not think much of JSU's recruiting class. That dude was recruited by more schools than anyone on JSU's list.

Is that supposed to validate him? Because he was looked at by other schools? Rico was not looked at by anyone outside of the swac. We were the only team recruiting pendleton after his juco stint. Just from the film I saw, I deem him decent. We have a three star DE that is the highlight of our class.

From the players we got, I will say that Shumake was not one of the recruits we were most happy about.

..and we like our class A LOT! However, whether anyone likes the classes we bring in is moot. There is a guy on MEAC fans who ranks classes and JSU is rarely on top but JSU gets production out of our recruits and over the last 4 years, only BCU has been more successful as a black college program than JSU.

:retard:
how many championships have yall won over that time period?

How many games have we won and lost overall. We've won more games and lost fewer than most HBCU's over the last 7 years. Winning one game is just one piece of the puzzle. Thank you.

That was a coaching issue. We all agree that Comegy can recruit his tail off, but he's not that great of a ball coach. I told you this a long time ago. The Eastern teams were so sorry, that he looked good. It's a good thing the administration wised up and did the right thing.

Even with that said, Comegy's teams were competitive more than most schools in the SWAC over the last seven years. If not for Grambling letting Broadway go, they'd still be on top. Oh well...

We'll see. I wasn't that impressed with his film and his numbers. I saw somewhere that he ran a 4.7....that would still be ok in the SWAC if he's quick and can get open. Barring injuries, he will catch a redshirt unless he has enough speed to blow up a zone and make people miss in space. That's what our WR corp is lacking. If he can't do that, then he won't crack the 2-deep's this fall. I think he's a good player, but I don't think he'll play right away.

I don't know. I simply asked "how many championships have yall won over that time period?"

As if that can't be used for others. :wavey:

but back to the question, care to take a stab at it?

Dude, go hop in front of a car. You used lack of championships to validate the quality of our recruits. So, in essence, would you say Bama State has done a piss poor job of recruiting? Care to take a stab at that question

What does a championship have to do with this? Look at the last 4 SWAC Champs. Did ANY of them have a better four years than JSU? (2010 =TxSo, 2011= Grambling, 2012= UAPB, 2013= SU)

Again I say, aside from BCU, no other team in BCF was more successful than JSU. PERIOD!

Ummm, they finished as champions of the conference. Two of those teams beat JSU when it counted the most.

If you don't use championship as a measure of "success", then so be it.

I remember when you didn't even acknowledge divisional "championships", but now you shole singing a different tune.
carry on....

I have always said that I would rather have a string of winning seasons vs a bunch of losing seasons and one championship. Such as with JSU basketball. I am happy with a CONSISTENT #2 or #3 finish. Not saying I don't want a championship but I would take being #2 for 4 years vs being #8 for three years and #1 for one year. Just like with our baseball team. We have consistently been a good team since the inception of the program. Another team winning a championship does not invalidate that.

Moreover, when it comes to my statement, championships or not, it still holds true. It's not like any of the teams that did win championships have a better 4 years than JSU.. and that's a fact.
