Dray Joseph - West St. John

February 4, 2010 - I was at Southern University’s recruiting banquet as a guest speaker for the eleventh time in fourteen years. This was the largest turnout I’ve ever seen for a recruiting banquet at Southern University. There must have been at least 400 people there; several players from the current team, and some of the Southern band. Mayor Kip Holden spoke, as did the Chancellor of Southern, and I was blown away and super impressed by the speech that the new head football coach, Stump Mitchell, gave to the Southern alumni. The alumni there were former players, current coaches, and long time season ticket holders as well as Head Baseball Coach, the legend, Roger Cador.

Stump hasn't had one practice yet, Spring isn't here and we haven't played our first game yet but some knuckleheads are already predicting future's that one can't. I will jump on that wagon when i see the product on the field in September until then some people need to really be quiet. I learn to never put my faith in coaches.:smug:

Man chill out lol.

Just telling the truth. I'm not jumping on the Stump bandwagon just yet. Not that easily influenced. They just need to wait to see what he and his staff can do.

Well, if Stump doesnt win in Year one, it is going to be hell on him down in the bluff. If Comegy doesn't beat gram and tenn st., he will prob be run off as well.

He will be tested up here in Normal, AL. Looking forward to seeing the Stump.

Is this the same Stump that coached Campbell at Washington?

What Stump Mitchell has done, on paper, is quite impressive considering he's only been on the job for what... 3 weeks?

I understand the hoopla and excitement. Not mad @ ya' Jags. We still got our :retard: on y'all though. :read:

co-sign

Comegy might as well pack his multiple mini food banks plus his bags and to make things even worse, Jackson comes to Grambling and we very very rarely lose in Robinson Stadium.

Man, did you feel the same when they hired Pete? Casem? Otis Washington? Gerald Kimble? Just asking.

Would you feel this way if we had hired Doug Williams or Cal Magee. I am just trying figure out why you are so anti Stump. I think we all know it has to happen on the field no matter if we had hired Jon Gruden or the second coming of the great Eddie Rob. You still have to win on Saturdays or whatever days we play. But the guy is at least going about it the right way and at least he is engaging the Nation unlike the last coach of 17 years and he hired what looks like a pretty good staff with 2 guys who have either played or coached in the SB. Give dude a break until he makes us unbelievers. He needs our support and not be so anti. Just my opinion though. I still supported Pete even when he pissed me off. LOL. Let's get behind Stump fellow Jag. It is time for us to return to being the real Jaguar Nation.:lecture:

Felt the same when everyone was hired, especially Pete because he hadn't proved himself until he came to SU and started to win. I support my jags in all but all of these years of no championships and promises makes one very skeptical. Stump and his staff has to prove that they can bring the team back to the number one spot. I can't get excited for no one that hasn't proved themselves yet, plain and simple. Premature celebration is not my thing.

Hey I think we all felt your same frustration these last few years. So I understand being skeptical. I am just going to let ole Stump show me he can't get it done. So I am excited until then. LOL.

Keep the excitement! Balance is needed, some need to be excited and others need to be skeptical so we won't feel let down again, again and again.

I guess Im the only one that doesn't see the negative in Decider's post.

I wanna see product first, too. Im not saying he's proverbally already guilty before proven innocent. But, I wanna see something on the field first, be it Spring or two-a-days. Talk is cheap enough to be free in early Feb. So, ain't no sense in talking up a big bank full of wish'n, right now.

Hey Juke, I just got word that we fired Stump and we are bringing Pete back.

Now let's see how excited folks will be.:scared:

Seriously, I think folks are just being excited about the new staff. But I guess I like the wait and see positive attitude. I am going to talk isht about SU even if Bugs Bunny is coaching that mofo. LOL.
