One more thing. Joel wanted to move from the original Lakewood location long before his father passed but pops would not go for it. There were a lot of things Joel wanted to do to make the "church" more profitable but pops said no. As soon as pops passed the barn door swung open and he has done the things he had always wanted to do but was held back by his old man.

Unfortunately, my parents and some of my friends are obsessed (brainwashed) with Joel. His smiles makes my spirit crawl and his message is not the gospel ... it's a perverted version of it. To me, he's a demon masquerading as an angel of light (Bible says that would happen). So I'm not surprised with him lying about the flooding and it taking public outrage for him to finally do something of substance to help his congregation. This white man is a multi-millionaire with a lot of power and access. (white privilege too) ... he can easily do way more than offer "prayer". I will never forget being forced to watch Joel on TV and him bragging about sharing an umbrella with a woman in the rain ... I'm like thats nothing to brag about with your clout. Brag about building houses for the poor .... something big.
I have zero sympathy for people who continue to willingly allow themselves to be spiritually, emotionally, and financially ABUSED by these PULPIT PIMPS. Unless God comes down to earth and tell me Himself He called these "pastors", "bishops", "priests" to lead .... my only leads will be Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and only those genuinely in need (not churches) will be directly getting my money. People don't read the Bible enough and will perish due to following the doctrine of man (religion) ... that's all I have to say.

My mother wanted to choke the shit out of me when I was in elementary school because I called her lord and savior lol reverent "ike" a liar and abuser of dumb people. She went in on me w/ the threat of spanking and made me promise not to call other people dumb. NO, and stop trying to group and generalize everyone.
As a child, growing up in Chicago, we lived across the street from the church we attended. The pastor there lived modest life. His house was just enough for his 4 person family. Even though he live a couple of miles from the church he walked instead of drove there daily. The only day he drove was on Sunday and that was because he drove the whole family, unless it was a particularly cool and nice Sunday, then he made everyone walk to church as a family. no sense in wasting gas.
If someone needed something, he would do his best to help and if they needed it, he would give them the shirt off his back if that's what it took.
If there was a family lacking food, his wife would cook up a meal for them, then he and his wife would walk or drive to that family to deliver the meal.
And as far as communication with someone, he always said he would pray for you, but there was nothing stopping you from praying for yourself.
I grew to admire this pastor, because I saw in him what a pastor and Christian should be, Now I don't know alot about his personal or family life, and all I have is what he portrayed and what he portrayed was one of a simple and life of solitude.
That in bold is the truth, I have been saying for years. He doesn't teach the bible, he offers his personal doctrine of motivation. Didn't he say once that he didn't call himself a preacher anyway? He provides self-help/self esteem boosters, not Christ. But I think he is so big because a lot of people of faith today desire "cotton candy" instead of "meat". But anywho...there are real, biblical pastors out there that operate as God called them to and in what God called them to do, but a number of them don't have large congregations cause they preach truth that folks don't want to hear and/or live by; or they aren't focused on entertaining you on Sunday morning. Plus a number of good people have experienced church hurt at the hands of self promoting, capitalistic false teachers and have unfortunately given up on the fellowship with other believers in a church setting (in America anyway). Shai Linee tried to tell yall years ago about these False Teachers lol (Listen to the whole song, if you never heard it)

If you preach to thousands of people on a stage you are clearly an entertainer, not a preacher! These mega preachers are parasites and predators, seeking money and attention far above any charitable work they might do. I feel sorry for the people that sit and listen to the foolishness of "what God said." Let God speak for himself.

You are like the 3rd person to say this. Basically a motivational speaker who uses tidbits of the Bible to inspire his followers. You don't feel what he is saying. I have NEVER trusted him. Then again I don't trust anyone with a church bigger than Indianola lol (Indianola has around 11K people).
