So things are really bad at SU

When we changed the drums in the middle 80s, it was Doc working with Johnny Lane to get Remo to gets those for us. It changed the sound of the funk (snares not as lound and lighter; cymbals were different; etc...). But, it was a very appreciated relationship. I hope that still exist. If not, we need to see what Remo is willing to do now, though it may not be as good of a deal as then. Any good help will help. But, I hope that relationship is still in place.

Did yall know that no funds generated by the Bayou Classic Botb goes directly to the bands involved? Shocked & appalled! Even the winning Frat and Sorority take home a cash prize! And 90% of the people there are there to see the bands!

But the bands do get some of the money from the Bayou Classic that SU receives right?! (I'm really hoping the answer is yes).
 
Just a suggestion, real talk. I think SU and Grambling might want to compare the contracts given at the SHC and MMC and AFC and determine what the appropriate payout for bands should be. Both bands should receive a direct payout from the Classic, NOT funneled through channels...

I'm sure that's in the best interest of BOTH bands.

Working on that T-M. But it didn't get suggested until they came and informed the band that they'd be marching a parade on thanksgiving day. And finally Mr J. said that thats too much work to not be receiving anything directly to the program. So its sparked a dialogue and strides have been made. Just another reason why I miss the heck outta Dr. Greggs!

I've heard stories about Dr. Greggs and Bayou Classic cash for the band.

difference is SU and Gram are the owners of the BC, not some 3rd party. SU just wasn't giving money to the band directly. He'll the athletic department don't get much either from the BC directly. The SU foundation receives the majority of the money from the BC. That way THe State of Louisiana has no say so in how the funds are spent.

Honestly, That supervision might not be a bad thing! Look at the endowments that were turned down because the admins refused to let people know where the money was going! We lost out on MILLIONS! I luv my Alma Mater, but that shit was stupid!

To me...that makes it even worse that the band isnt' receiving any money :noidea:
